Should you draft Bhayshul Tuten or Cam Skattebo in 2025 dynasty fantasy football rookie drafts? Dave breaks down the profiles and landing spots for Tuten and Skattebo.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen running backs consistently be pushed down the board in fantasy football dynasty rookie drafts. The NFL has embraced more running back committees each year, and given the shorter life span of most backs, the position has been devalued across many dynasty leagues. However, the position made a bit of a comeback in 2024, and we saw more bell-cow backs than we've had in quite some time.
The 2025 rookie running back class is also quite strong. There is a plethora of running backs being selected within the first two rounds of dynasty rookie drafts this year. Bhayshul Tuten and Cam Skattebo are two options for running back-needy owners. However, they were both selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft and have pros and cons to their game. But which one should dynasty gamers select in their rookie drafts?

Should I Draft Bhayshul Tuten In Fantasy Football Dynasty Rookie Drafts?
Tuten was seen as a huge riser following the 2025 NFL Combine. He tested well across the board. This was highlighted by an impressive 4.32 40-yard dash.

His speed goes beyond the 40-yard dash. It shows up immediately when you watch his film and gives him a clear trump-card trait in the NFL.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were also impressed with Tuten’s film and took him in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He joins a crowded backfield alongside Travis Etienne Jr. and Tank Bigsby.
Tuten faces an uphill battle for immediate touches, but it’s a positive sign that the new Jacksonville regime felt the need to draft him. However, Tuten is still a fourth-round pick and is by no means a guarantee to produce like an elite back.
Bhayshul Tuten Analytical Profile
Let’s do a quick evaluation of some of Tuten’s advanced metrics, courtesy of the folks at PFF. Among 154 collegiate backs with 100+ carries, Tuten ranked:
63rd in PFF rushing grade
14th in missed tackles forced (MTF)
17th in yards after contact
Eighth in yards after contact per attempt
Eighth in breakaway yards
11th in breakaway yards percentage
Ninth in elusive rating
Minus his rushing grade, Tuten fared very well across these metrics. Given his elite speed, it’s not particularly surprising to see him finish so well in the breakaway yards metrics. However, he’s also a very powerful back for his size and has no problems lowering his shoulder to initiate contact.

The biggest issue for him, though, is his ball security. He averaged one fumble every 61 touches in college. While not completely terrible, this is not an ideal rate. Fumbling issues are not necessarily a career killer. Tiki Barber famously overcame fumbling issues to become one of the most productive backs in the league toward the end of his career. Tuten does have serious work to do in this area, as NFL coaches do not prefer backs who put the ball on the ground at a high rate.
Long-term Outlook
Tuten has some flaws, but he also presents serious upside. He was a big-play machine at Virginia Tech, and his speed will translate to the NFL game. Fourth-round draft capital does not typically guarantee much for running backs. Even when Day 3 backs do succeed, they are often replaced by a supposedly more talented back selected with better draft capital.
Tuten faces an uphill battle right off the bat to emerge as the Jaguars' RB1. However, it’s worth noting that new Jaguars general manager James Gladstone is very bullish on Tuten. Gladstone reportedly mentioned Tuten’s name as a player he would target in the NFL Draft during his interviews for Jacksonville’s general manager position.

Should I Draft Bhayshul Tuten?
Tuten has some flaws, but we cannot ignore Gladstone’s comments. The man brought up Tuten’s name in an interview for the general manager position. If this doesn’t speak to the new regime’s thoughts on Tuten, then what does?
He’s undeniably talented and offers big-play potential. These are traits fantasy managers typically crave. He does have some obstacles to overcome in the form of Etienne and Bigsby. However, it’s worth pointing out that the new regime reportedly is not very high on Etienne.

Tuten is worth a selection at the top of the second round in single-quarterback drafts and toward the middle/back end of Round 2 in Superflex rookie drafts. It's a roll of the dice on talent, but if Tuten hits, he could hit in a big way.
Should I Draft Cam Skattebo In Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie Drafts?
Skattebo enjoyed a strong 2025 season at Arizona State. His 1,711 rushing yards were second in the nation behind Ashton Jeanty. Skattebo also scored 21 rushing touchdowns and registered 45 receptions for 605 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

The New York Giants liked what they saw on film and selected him in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.

Skattebo does have a major issue with pass protection. His technique is flat-out awful and needs a lot of work. NFL coaches do not like it when backs allow the quarterback to take hits. Despite what the Giants have said publicly about their intentions to use Slattebo in a variety of ways, he will not see consistent playing time if he can’t protect the quarterback.
Cam Skattebo Analytical Profile
Let’s do a quick evaluation of some of Skattebo’s advanced metrics, courtesy of the folks at PFF. Among 154 collegiate backs with 100+ carries, Skattebo finished:
Fourth in PFF rushing grade
T-3rd in missed tackles forced (MTF)
Fifth in yards after contact
32nd in yards after contact per attempt
31st in breakaway yards
113th in breakaway yards percentage
14th in elusive rating
Overall, there’s a lot of good in Skattebo’s profile. MTF has been one of the stickier metrics when transitioning to the NFL, so it’s very good to see Skattebo score so high in this metric.
It’s not surprising that he did not fare as well in breakaway yards percentage. This does bring into question how this aspect of his game will translate to the NFL and backs up what’s seen at times on film. We probably won’t see Skattebo reel off many 50-yarders in the NFL, but he still brings a lot of other things to the table.
Long-term Outlook
As a fourth-round pick, Skattebo carries the same long-term risk as Tuten. There is one major difference between their situations. Unlike Tuten, who was selected by a brand-new regime, Skattebo was selected by a New York Giants regime that, barring significant improvement in 2025, is probably gone in 2026. That brings a lot of uncertainty into Skattebo’s future.
It means he likely has to be a significant contributor during the 2025 season to prevent a new coaching staff/front office from drafting or signing a different running back next year. Given Skattebo’s issues in pass protection, he may not get that opportunity this season. Even if he is productive, it’s far from guaranteed that a new staff will keep him as the lead back.
There’s still the possibility the Giants retain Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen. This would be good news for Skattebo’s long-term outlook, but that doesn’t feel likely at this point in time.
Should I Draft Cam Skattebo?
Skattebo’s supporters love his advanced metrics and his rugged style of play. There is a lot to like in that regard. However, it’s worrisome that several NFL teams were concerned about his burst and did not feel he had enough juice to succeed in the NFL.

His data is very good, but there are moments on tape that make you wonder if he does have enough juice for the next level. Holes close faster in the NFL than they do in college. This could be a problem for Skattebo.
As noted, his pass protection is also a major issue. It could limit his playing time as a rookie. However, Tyrone Tracy Jr. did struggle with fumbles down the homestretch last year. If those issues reappear in 2025, the door could be open for Skattebo to steal the RB1 job. He still needs to beat out veteran Devin Singletary for the RB2 job, and if Skattebo doesn’t improve his pass protection, that could be a harder task than some want to admit.
Despite the concerns, there’s a lot to like about Skattebo’s profile. He's certainly worth selecting with a second-round pick in all dynasty rookie drafts.
Should I Draft Bhayshul Tuten or Cam Skattebo in Fantasy Football?
Both players carry risk as well as upside. Fourth-round draft capital was less than ideal for both players, but you can see the path toward success for each.
With that said, Tuten is the preferred pick in rookie drafts. He offers more big-play potential. The new regime in Jacksonville loves him and drafted him despite already boasting a strong running back room.
Unfortunately, in the short time since the NFL Draft concluded, Tuten has become more expensive in rookie drafts. So far this offseason, I’ve completed 32 rookie drafts. Tuten was initially a third-round pick in my drafts done immediately following the NFL Draft.
While that was admittedly a nice bargain, he’s now a consistent second-round pick. I’ve even seen him go as high as 2.03 in a few Superflex leagues. That price feels too high given his downside, and it’s a better strategic play to take the likes of Luther Burden III and Matthew Golden over him. The middle/back end of the second round feels like a more appropriate spot.
Tuten is certainly worth the gamble at this point in rookie drafts. His dynasty value is sure to rise as we get closer to the start of the year, and more people catch on to his talent. You might even be one positive report away from cashing in before he even steps on the field.
If you like Tuten, go get him in your rookie draft, but at the recommended cost. He’s talented and could be this year’s surprise Day 3 breakout running back.
