The Dallas Stars have acquired forward Mikael Granlund in a trade with the San Jose Sharks. Defenseman Cody Ceci will also move to Texas, while the Stars gave up a 2025 first-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick in the transaction. The fourth-round selection will become a third-round choice if Dallas makes it to the Stanley Cup Finals. Both players are pending unrestricted free agents. Granlund and Ceci will help cover for injured players. The Stars offense is without Tyler Seguin (hip) and Mason Marchment (face), while the backline is missing Miro Heiskanen (knee) and Nils Lundkvist (shoulder), who has just had season-ending surgery. Granlund led the Sharks with 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists) in 52 games and looks like a good fit for Dallas. His productivity might improve with more talent around him.--Taavi Pailk
