Why The Philadelphia Eagles Can Win Super Bowl LIX – Conference Championship Week Edition

Saquon Barkley - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Mike Fanelli dives into how and why the Philadelphia Eagles can win Super Bowl LIX in the 2024-25 season. Saquon Barkley and Co. could end up surprising the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles had a disappointing 2023 season. After making it to the Super Bowl the year before, the Eagles were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. However, they rebounded this season.

Philadelphia won the NFC East division, finishing the regular season with a 14-3 record. They had two losses heading into their Week 5 bye, losing to the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the Eagles won 12 of their final 13 regular season games.

Their lone loss over the final 13 weeks of the regular season was to the Washington Commanders in Week 16, losing 36-33. However, the Eagles lost Jalen Hurts to a concussion early in the game. Can Philadelphia return to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years?

Why The Philadelphia Eagles Can Win Super Bowl LIX

While the Eagles have won their two playoff games by 18 points, Hurts and the passing attack have struggled. The star quarterback has 259 passing yards in the postseason, totaling 131 or less in both contests. However, Saquon Barkley has been outstanding.

The superstar running back had 25 rushing attempts for 119 yards in the Wild Card Round win over the Green Bay Packers. Last week, Barkley had 26 rushing attempts for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Los Angeles Rams, with both rushing scores coming from 62 or more yards away.

Philadelphia faces Washington in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. It will be the third matchup between the NFC East Division rivals this year, with both teams winning on their home field during the regular season. The Eagles are 5.5-point favorites as the home team.

Unfortunately, Hurts left early in the Week 16 matchup against the Commanders in Washington. More importantly, the star quarterback had a quiet performance in the Week 11 victory against the division rivals, totaling 221 passing yards and zero touchdowns. However, he had 39 rushing yards and a touchdown in the win.

Barkley dominated against the Commanders, totaling at least 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns in both regular season matchups. The Eagles will advance to the Super Bowl if the superstar running back has another massive performance.

If they can defeat Washington, Philadelphia will advance to the Super Bowl. While they will be underdogs against the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills, the Eagles can win if Barkley continues to play at an all-time high level.
