Jahan Dotson fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2024). Should you start or sit Jahan Dotson for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Sit in 12-Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR5
ANALYSIS: Even if A.J. Brown misses time, Philadelphia Eagles WR Jahan Dotson isn't worth putting in your starting lineups. He's brand new to the Eagles offensive scheme, hasn't had much time to adjust, and isn't a good receiver anyway. Dotson was let go by the Commanders for a reason.
Earning targets is one of the most important things a WR can do in the NFL, and is absolutely foundational to their success. Dotson doesn't do this at a high level. In fact, he was one of the worst target earners of all rookies drafted between 2014-2023 that got significant volume.
I liked Jahan Dotson coming in. Thought he was more a Day 2 guy and miscast in Washington's offense in 2022-2023. His rookie success always felt like it hinged a bit too much on his 7 TDs.
He doesn't earn targets. Below is rookie TPRR for 1st round WRs 2014-2023 (min. 50 TGTs). pic.twitter.com/IMTMKHGrBp

This didn't improve in his time with the Commanders. It actually got worse. Dotson registered a 13.4% target per route run rate (78th out of 80) and 0.86 yards per route run (78th out of 80) and ranked 10th worst in drop percentage according to ESPN. Those are atrocious numbers.
Dotson may have a role in the Eagles offense, but it's much too risky to start him this week. He's been terrible his whole career.
UPDATE: A.J. Brown has officially been ruled OUT for Week 2
