Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers for H2H Points Leagues for Week 24

Jeffrey Springs - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, Draft Sleepers

Wade's fantasy baseball H2H points league waiver wire pitchers to pickup for Week 24 (2024), September 1 to September 7. Free agent starting pitchers to add in H2H points leagues.

Welcome back, RotoBallers, to another edition of Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers for H2H Points Leagues.

In Week 24, these pitchers could produce major points in your head-to-head leagues. Listed players are generally rostered in around half or less of ESPN and/or Yahoo leagues. In the head-t0-head format, player values often vary from website to website platform, so we highlight players who are fit to succeed regardless of the format.

This article is part of a weekly series we have here at RotoBaller. Be on the lookout for more articles that are sure to help you win the week in Week 24.

Best Waiver Wire Choices

Jeffrey Springs, Tampa Bay Rays

Yahoo: 43%; ESPN: 12%

2024 stats: (27 IP / 3.67 ERA (3.76 FIP) / 1.44 WHIP / 33:9 K/BB)

For those of you who have kept up with the "Injured Players to Stash" series that I've been writing this season, you know that I am a big fan of what Springs can do. Since joining the Rays in 2021, he's been excellent, posting a 2.66 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 264:58 K/BB over 223 innings.

Springs is set to make two starts for Tampa Bay in Week 24, facing the Twins and Orioles, respectively. These aren't the most favorable matchups, but Springs' 2.45 ERA since August 11 makes me confident that he'll have a solid week.

Brayan Bello, Boston Red Sox

Yahoo: 51%; ESPN: 26%

2024 stats: (137 IP / 4.66 ERA (4.38 FIP) / 1.37 WHIP / 131:52 K/BB)

Bello is fresh off his best start of the season (8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 9 K vs. TOR). He's shown signs of improvement, over the last month. In three of his last four outings, he's thrown at least six innings, allowed one run or less, and struck out at least five batters.

Rostering Bello for Week 24 is a textbook example of "playing the hot hand." His first matchup against the Mets may not be ideal, but his second start coming against the White Sox is certainly promising.

Next-Best Waiver Wire Choice

Osvaldo Bido, Oakland Athletics

Yahoo: 43%; ESPN: 14%

2024 stats: (56 IP / 3.21 ERA (3.30 FIP) / 1.07 WHIP / 56:24 K/BB)

Bido has been a pleasant surprise for the A's, this year. On top of that, he's been especially good in August (29 IP, 1.55 ERA (2.28 FIP), 28:9 K/BB). Combine that with the fact that he's facing two teams that have struggled to hit righties (the Tigers have a .687 OPS vs. RHP - The Mariners have a .673 OPS vs. RHP), and you've got a recipe for success in Week 24.

Simeon Woods Richardson, Minnesota Twins

Yahoo: 19%; ESPN: 8%

2024 stats: (117 IP / 3.85 ERA (4.04 FIP) / 1.18 WHIP / 102:38 K/BB)

Woods Richardson is having a stellar rookie year with the Twins. He may not produce the flashy, high-strikeout upside that we often look for in fantasy, but he's been reliable all season. As for his matchups in Week 24: one's great, and the other is just okay.

The Rays are 29th in OPS against righties (.659), while the Royals rank 10th (.738). However, with Vinnie Pasquantino recently hitting the IL, the Royals are missing one of their key righty-killers. Overall, Woods Richardson is a solid investment this week.

Deeper Waiver Wire Choice

Max Meyer, Miami Marlins

Yahoo: 13%; ESPN: 5%

2024 stats: (51 IP / 5.44 ERA (5.84 FIP) / 1.38 WHIP / 41:18 K/BB)

March-born man from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Max Meyer of the Miami Marlins mistakenly meddled between the major and minor leagues (I don't know; I gave it a shot.). Now that Meyer is back in the Marlins' rotation, he should hopefully turn things around soon.

While he'll have to toe the slab against the Phillies in Week 24, he's also have a chance to face the Nationals. Overall, there's a lot of risk here; but the reward is pretty high.
