Manchester United FPL Team Preview - Fantasy Premier League Predictions, Tips, Picks for 2024-2025

Soccer - Fantasy Premier League, FPL, Team Previews

Manchester United FPL team preview, predictions, tips, and picks for Fantasy Premier League lineups. RotoBaller's EPL fantasy football team previews for 2024-2025.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 Fantasy Premier League season, RotoBallers! The game has officially launched for the new season, and it's time to start preparing for another year of FPL. We will have you covered from the preseason in July until the final kick of the season in May and everything else that happens in between.

The top five teams from the 2023-2024 Premier League season have completed their FPL previews on the site. It's time to get into the final three teams who are hoping they can jump up in the table this year. Manchester United finished eighth in the table, collecting 60 points on the season. Despite the lack of success by their standards, the Red Devils decided to stick with manager Erik ten Hag to start another year.

The first deadline of the 2024-2025 Fantasy Premier League season is August 16 at 1:30 p.m. EDT, when Manchester United welcomes Fulham to open the campaign. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every English Premier League slate and UEFA Champions League game with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

FPL Team Previews: Manchester United

After finishing third in 2022-2023 and playing deep into multiple competitions, United started to unravel early this past season and could never quite battle its way back to the top. Marcus Rashford dropped off big time, the defense began to struggle, and Man U worked to find any semblance of consistency throughout 2024. In the end, ten Hag's group couldn't make up for the dropped points early, and the club will be without European football for the first time since the 2016-2017 season.

Last Season's Manchester United Stats

  • League Finish: Eighth, 60 points
  • Most goals: Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund, 10 goals
  • Most assists: Bruno Fernandes, 8 assists
  • Most FPL Points: Bruno Fernandes, 166 points

Who is your favorite Manchester United defender for the upcoming FPL campaign?

  • Diogo Dalot (£5.0M) is the only defender that remotely intrigues me to start the season, but the fear of more defensive struggles from Man U as a whole makes me think there are still better options elsewhere. The 25-year-old showed glimpses of moving forward and providing offensive production with two goals and three assists on the year, and his 35-start reliability is what puts him on the bubble for rostering in FPL. All things considered, though, I wouldn't be willing to roster Dalot until Gameweek 8, and even then I'll need to see some growth from last season in a few areas to be persuaded to buy.

Which Manchester United midfielder is catching your eye?

  • Many will say Bruno Fernandes (£8.5M) here, and I don't necessarily disagree. At the same time, however, I'm having a hard time justifying him at this price tag. I don't think there's much room for growth at his age, and I'm concerned that others will begin to step up and take the offensive load this season, which should be the case for such a talented group on paper. You can't go wrong with Fernandes in general, but there are more risk/reward moves to be made. Stay tuned for my bold predictions section to see who I am leaning toward instead.

The Manchester United forward who will be bagging us some FPL points is...?

  • The fact that Rasmus Hojlund (£7.0M) was able to bag 10 goals in just 25 starts says all we need to say about his talent. When he's right and Man U is firing on all cylinders, the Danish striker can rack up FPL points in a hurry. The questions, though, become can he stay healthy, is ten Hag committed to him, and was the hot stretch last year just a flash in the pan? It's tough to know for sure right now, but there's a world in which this price tag is far too low for what the 21-year-old can contribute each week in FPL.

What run of fixtures favors Manchester United the most for the 2024-2025 FPL season?

  • Manchester United doesn't see a very strong stretch of matchups until October when it starts with Brentford at home in Gameweek 8 and has six straight weeks of positive situations ending with Everton at home in Gameweek 13. It's a bit of a ways out, and their beginning draw isn't overly fierce, but it's good to know that the best Red Devils stretch will come a couple of months into the FPL season.

How many Manchester United players will you have in your Gameweek 1 squad?

  • I'm going to wait and see on Manchester United, as I don't see any glaring value standing out at any one position. I'm not entirely sure how the starting lineups and minutes will shake out yet. I find myself remembering how chaotic things were under ten Hag last year, and the matchups aren't enticing me enough to buy in yet. Maybe by Gameweek 4 or 5, I'll start to have a better feeling on a Red Devil or two.

What is one bold FPL prediction for any Manchester United player?

  • I have a good feeling about Alejandro Garnacho (£6.5M). He possesses a spark that makes me think there's a major upside to be unlocked. As a result, I'll be a bit bold in saying that he scores more than 10 goals this year and manages to lead Manchester United in the scoring category. Let's hope his playing time allows for such a jump in production because his skill set at the end of last year sure suggested he's ready for it.
