Fantasy Baseball Hitter Streamers - Top Waiver Wire Pickups and Starts for Week 8 (May 13 - May 19)

Jo Adell - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Fantasy baseball hitter streamers and starts for Week 8 of the 2024 season. Thunder Dan Palyo analyzes the top batter streamers to pick up in Week 8.

Another week of baseball is in the books and hopefully, you've been able to navigate injuries and early season slumps to remain in contention in your leagues. Heck, it's only Week 8 so every team should still be in contention, right? Yes, but being proactive early in the season is important so that when July and August roll around, you don't find yourself buried in the standings.

Our hitter streamers fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups column will identify hitters with good matchups and can be considered waiver wire streamers ahead of the Sunday night waiver wire runs for leagues with weekly transactions.

In this piece, every week I'll look to find hitters playing in most games and who have the most favorable matchups to help you plug those gaps and fill those holes in your roster. You can also check out the rest of our fantasy baseball streamer content here at RotoBaller.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

What Teams Offer The Most Streaming Value?

This week we have ten teams playing seven games between Monday, May 13, and Sunday, May 19:

  • Boston (vs. TB, @STL)
  • Chicago Cubs (@ATL, @CWS)
  • Cincinnati (@ARI, @LAD)
  • Houston (vs. OAK, vs. MIL)
  • Los Angeles Dodgers (@SF, vs. CIN)
  • New York Mets (vs. PHI, @ MIA)
  • Oakland (@HOU, @KC)
  • Philadelphia (@NYM, vs. NYM, vs. WAS)
  • Pittsburgh (@MIL, @CHC)
  • Tampa Bay (@BOS, @TOR)

Park Factor Upgrades and Downgrades:

  • Colorado plays all six games on the road away from Coors - DOWNGRADE
  • Cincinnati plays on the road in Arizona and L.A. - DOWNGRADE
  • Arizona and Atlanta both play all six of their games at home - UPGRADES

Week 8 Fantasy Baseball Hitter Streamers

I'll recommend only players who are 40% rostered or lower and all roster percentages are from Yahoo!

Jo Adell, OF - LAA (39%)

Adell is red hot at the plate, smacking three home runs in his last four games. We saw him do something similar at the end of April before cooling off for a week, but he's definitely worth adding to see if this is finally his breakout season.

With the Angels mired in mediocrity and Mike Trout hurt, Adell should be playing every day and is a power/speed threat with seven long balls and seven stolen bases already this season.

Lars Nootbaar, OF - STL (31%)

The Cardinals simply aren't hitting much at all as a team, and Nootbaar is still below the Mendoza line with a .198 average through his first 26 games. But he had two home runs last week and is coming off a 3-hit outing against the Brewers this week. Perhaps he's starting to turn it on. We know the quality of hitter that he can be when he's healthy and seeing the ball well.

Josh Rojas, 2B/3B - SEA (24%)

Rojas continues to lead off for Seattle, and while he hasn't supplied much power (just three home runs), he is hitting for an incredible .347 average and has now swiped four bases. He's eligible at both second and third base and makes for a solid fill-in or utility play on a daily basis with his ability to continually get on base.

Jonny DeLuca, OF - TB (21%)

DeLuca has started all eight games since being called up by the Rays. He has just one home run but has driven in ten runs and already stolen two bases. The Rays really need some lefties in their lineup and DeLuca helps balance things out quite a bit (as well as the return of Josh Lowe from injury). With seven games this week, DeLuca is one of my favorite outfielder adds.

Mike Tauchman, OF - CHC (18%)

Tauchman has been hitting in the two-hole lately and even led off on Saturday against Paul Skenes. The lefty has a nice hit tool and even stole two bases last week. He's getting on base and scoring runs (24) while sporting a solid .279 average. He gets to hit in a great park for lefties this week in Atlanta and then comes home to the Friendly Confines of Wrigley to face the Pirates. I think he's an underrated player in real-life and fantasy baseball.

Danny Jansen, C - TOR (15%)

Jansen has been one of the hotter hitters in the Toronto lineup lately, and because of his bat he has drawn starts in seven of their last eight games. He could just be on a random hot streak, or he could be heating up for good, but either way, he's now hitting .315 with four home runs on the year in just 17 games. If you need help at catcher, he's the most widely available option that I would add for this week.

Leody Taveras, OF - TEX (13%)

Tavares didn't hit much for all of April, but has gone crazy in May with four multi-hit games, two home runs, two steals, and 13 runs scored. He's the 9-hitter for Texas but is like an extra leadoff man for that offense with his ability to get on base, swipe bases, and score runs.

Deep League Hitter Streamers to Consider

Some widely available hitters (under 10% rostered) could be worth a look this week.

Good luck this week and choose those streaming options wisely!
