Michael Kopech is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for closers and saves. Target Kopech as a free agent relief pitcher for saves on the waiver wire.
ANALYSIS: Michael Kopech may be the only truly defined closer on your waiver wire. The starter-turned-reliever has tallied two saves in the past two games by throwing two ⅓ shutout innings. On the season, he has a 3.66 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 26 punchouts across 19 ⅔ innings. The 28-year-old has tallied four saves.
Kopech has very strong underlying metrics, which could make him a valuable fantasy asset even without a high saves total. His .186 xBA is one of the best in baseball (top 92 percentile among all pitchers), and his 31.7% K rate (top 89 percentile) are strong indicators that he could be in for a big summer.

While Kopech has solidified himself as the primary closer in the Southside, he will not be given that many opportunities simply due to how poor the team’s play has been. By the end of the season, Kopech may only have around 15 saves. Nonetheless, 15 saves and excellent pitching ratios could be the difference to you winning your league. For that reason, it is worth picking up Kopech if he is available.
