ANALYSIS: With the removal of Adbert Alzolay from the closer role for the Cubs after a fourth blown save already, an opportunity has been created for another reliever to take over the job. Or perhaps relievers, as in a closer-by-committee approach. Hector Neris recorded the save in the second game of the Cubs' doubleheader this past Saturday and has experience in the role, but has allowed six hits and seven walks in seven innings of work, leading to a swollen 1.86 WHIP and one blown save of his own.

Mark Leiter Jr. on the other hand has yet to allow an earned run, has a 0.86 WHIP, and has a 28.6% K-BB% over 10 2/3 IP, so he's certainly an option to fill the role as well. Leiter has just seven career saves, however, compared to Neris' 90 career saves, so the 34-year-old would seemingly have the edge there if it came down to experience.
Manager Craig Counsell has not indicated who will take over at this point, so keep an eye on who gets the next shot as that may be more revealing. Fantasy managers who want to take a chance on Neris may have a good shot at getting him as he's available in over 60% of Yahoo leagues at this point.
