Fantasy Basketball Mid-Week Streamers: Week 20

NBA fantasy baseball streamers waiver wire pickups

Mike Barner looks at some mid-week waiver wire options for fantasy basketball leagues. These players may be free agents to target on waivers in Week 20.

The NBA closes out the week with a bit of a unique schedule. There are seven teams that will play just one more time each, while three teams still have three games remaining.

Let’s look at the remaining schedules for each team and discuss some players to consider streaming. For those in daily lineup leagues, streaming players with favorable schedules can be key to having a winning week. However, be sure to be aware of your league rules. If you have games played cap for the week, then streaming too much might not be ideal.

All roster percentages used in this article are from Yahoo.

Weekly Schedule: Thursday to Sunday

Teams that play only game (AVOID): Cleveland, Golden State, Indiana, L.A. Lakers, Memphis, Minnesota, Sacramento

Teams that play two or three games (TARGET): Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, L.A. Clippers, Miami, Milwaukee, New York, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, San Antonio, Toronto, Washington

Teams that play back-to-back (TARGET): Brooklyn, Charlotte, New Orleans, Utah

Shallow League Streaming Options

Norman Powell, SG/SF (53%)

I’m cheating a little bit here with Powell rostered in more than half of leagues. Still, it’s worth checking to see if he is available in yours with the Clippers being one of the teams that has three games remaining. Over his last 11 games, Powell is averaging 16.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.0 three-pointers. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Clippers rest Kawhi Leonard and/or Paul George for one of their three games, which would further help Powell’s cause.

Simone Fontecchio, SF (42%)

Fontecchio has logged 30 minutes per game since joining the Pistons. He has both started and come off the bench, maintaining valuable production in both roles. Over 14 games with the team, he has averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.6 three-pointers. That type of production shouldn’t be ignored with the Pistons still having two games left this week.

Vasilije Micic, PG (30%)

The Hornets are playing out the string with a compromised depth chart, especially at guard. Micic has started and logged an average of 32 minutes over their last six games because of their lack of options. He hasn’t disappointed in his expanded role, averaging 15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 three-pointers. Like the Pistons, the Hornets also have two games remaining this week.

Corey Kispert, SG/SF (28%)

The Wizards are another team that will play three more times this week. Kispert stands out as someone to add from their squad. While he is averaging 23 minutes per game for the season, he has averaged 27 minutes over his last 18 games. He parlayed his added playing time into averages of 15.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.7 three-pointers during that span. For the season, he is shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from behind the arc.

Deep League Streaming Options

Grant Williams, PF/C (29%)

A trade from the Mavericks to the Hornets has done wonders for Williams. Across 15 games with his new team, he has averaged 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 three-pointers. The key is he played 31 minutes per game during that stretch. Given their lack of depth at power forward and center, Williams isn’t likely to see a decline in minutes anytime soon.

Jock Landale, C (27%)

Alperen Sengun (ankle) is likely to miss the remainder of the season for the Rockets, creating a huge hole for them at center. Even though he didn’t start with Sengun out Tuesday versus the Spurs, Landale logged 26 minutes off the bench. He used his added opportunities to produce 11 points, four rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block. With a clear path to a larger role, Landale is a great option for the Rockets’ remaining two games this week, and potentially longer.

Royce O'Neale, SG/SF (21%)

The Suns are the third and final team that has three games remaining for the week. He doesn’t have eye-popping numbers, but O'Neale has averaged 8.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.2 three-pointers per game since being acquired from the Nets. Add in the potential for the Suns to maybe limit the minutes for some of their key starters and O'Neale should play enough to be worth considering in deeper formats.

Bilal Coulibaly, SG/SF (16%)

This is a volume play with Coulibaly since the Wizards will take the floor three more times this week. He hasn’t been great since moving into the starting lineup, but he has averaged 1.4 three-pointers and 1.1 steals over his last seven games. For those desperate for healthy bodies in deep formats, Coulibaly is at least worth considering.
