Seven Bets for Super Bowl LVIII - Chiefs vs. 49ers Betting Picks Including Passing Yards, Halftime Opener, and Gatorade Bath Color

2025 Fantasy Football Early-Round Best Ball Busts, Overvalued

How should you bet on Super Bowl LVIII? Kyle Ringstad looks at seven early Super Bowl bets to make ahead of the big game.

The 2023 NFL season finale will take place on Sunday in a battle of highly decorated franchises as the Kansas City Chiefs (11-6) take on the San Francisco 49ers (12-5) in Super Bowl LVIII.

As one of the most highly anticipated events in all of sports, the Super Bowl draws in millions of fans every year, along with millions of dollars in bets. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a newcomer to the world of NFL betting, there is something for everyone when it comes to betting on the big game. We're breaking down two player props, two "game script" style props, and three novelty props surrounding the National Anthem, the halftime show, and the Gatorade Bath Color.

In this article, we'll be taking a look at some of the top bets to consider ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Super Bowl Bet #1

Brock Purdy OVER 248.5 passing yards (-115)

This number is simply too low. The Chiefs have a great defense, but Brock Purdy averaged over 267 passing yards during the regular season. While his playoff numbers are slightly down this year, he still went over 248.5 passing yards against both the Packers and the Lions. This is projected to be a relatively high-scoring game, and if that's the case, Purdy will be getting his YAC yards out of McCaffrey, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk.

Super Bowl Bet #2

Christian McCaffrey OVER 33.5 receiving yards (-115)

This is the game where you unleash Christian McCaffrey as much as you possibly can. He's the most talented, consistent, reliable, dynamic player on this offense, and if they're not feeding him touches in the Super Bowl, why would you even have him on the team? He averaged 31.3 receiving yards per game this season and has averaged just over five receptions on eight targets per game over the last four games - that should be more than enough to allow him to hit this prop bet on Sunday.

Super Bowl Bet #3

1st Score - On or after six minutes elapsed: AFTER (+110)

With both teams boasting elite defenses and offenses that have had trouble getting into a rhythm at times, this bet feels like a cinch to hit. The 49ers and Chiefs are no strangers to big games, but it's human nature to have to shake out some nerves on the world's biggest stage, and I believe we'll see a punt or two before the scoring begins in this one.

Super Bowl Bet #4

Either team to score 3 unanswered times: NO (+140)

These teams are way too evenly matched and well-coached to allow the other team to notch three unanswered scores. While the 47.5-point implied total for the game is a little on the high side, I can't see either team dominating the other to the point where one scores three consecutive times. There's not much analysis to do on this one - I just don't see it happening.

Super Bowl Bet #5

National Anthem Length - 90.5 seconds: OVER (+102)

I'm not going to pretend I have insight into Reba McEntire and her history with the National Anthem. What I will do is link this helpful research for you to check out yourself, and provide my recommendations here. Since 1991, country singers have averaged 112.5 seconds singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. The original line for this year started at 84.5 seconds and has since shot up to the 90.5 seconds it's at now, but I'm still backing the over with historical context in mind. While there's a record of her singing the anthem in just 83 seconds back in 1997, she's now 68 years old, and as the linked article notes, "her vocal pacing just ain't what it used to be." Don't wait for the rehearsal leaks to come out - jump on this one now.

Super Bowl Bet #6

First Halftime Song: "OMG" (+1100)

Usher will be performing at halftime, and "My Way" is the odds-on favorite as the song he opens up the performance with. To be frank, I had not heard this song (or simply suppressed it from my memory) until I had to check it out for this piece. It's a hit from 14 years ago, back when artists and bands were still putting "Official HD Video" as part of the song title on YouTube. This song is going off at -110 on BetMGM as of February 5th, but I'm gravitating toward him opening with a more well-known hit for his most viewed performance ever.

It's between "Yeah," "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love," "OMG," and "Love in This Club," for me. "Yeah" is his most popular hit, but it's one that he'll probably want to lead into (or finish the performance with) as it's a high-energy, club-banging kind of song. The same goes for "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love." "Love in this Club" feels a little too slow to open up the Super Bowl with. We're going with "OMG" as a catchy, recognizable song to open up the festivities, and we can get it at juicy +1100 odds on both FanDuel and BetMGM.

Bonus: UNDER 8.5 songs performed (+100)

Bonus: OVER 1.5 outfit changes (-140)

Bonus: will.i.am cameo (+158)

Super Bowl Bet #7

Gatorade Bath Color: BLUE (+350)

Orange has been the most popular color for Super Bowl champions in the modern era, being the color of choice five times since 2001. Andy Reid got a Purple Gatorade bath after last year's win over the Eagles, and Purple is currently the favorite for this year's 'Gatorade Bath Color' prop at +225.

While Orange has been the most popular color, Clear, None, and Blue are all right behind at four appearances a piece. Blue has appeared three times in the last five years, and you can get it at great odds as it's currently +350 as of February 5th.
