The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on August 8, 2023. Dawn's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers! The weather looks much better today after a stormy Monday evening along the East Coast caused delays and one postponement. Luckily, the skies should be clear for today's games. The recent storms have created excellent conditions for batters in cities like New York and Boston, with breezes ranging from 10 to 12 mph.

This article contains my picks for the 11-game main slate on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 7:05 PM ET. 

The lineup picks will range from some elite, high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yonny Chirinos, ATL @ PIT ($7,400 DK, -- FD)

Lefty Chirinos could be your man for those looking for value to fit in an Aaron Judge or Freddie Freeman for tonight's slate. He has a 4.42 ERA but a 2.95 ERA on the road, where he is three and two, and in night games, he has a 3.89 ERA. Chirinos has a 27% strikeout rate, and Pirates' is 25.7%. At home versus lefties, the Pirates are slashing just .244/.332/.359 with a 92 wRC+ and a .115 ISO. If you are looking for value, Chirinos is the way to go.

Lucas Giolito, LAA vs SFG ($5,500 DK, $4,000 FD)

Right-hander Giolito is facing the Giants at home tonight in his first outing as an Angel. Giolito is 0-3 in his last five starts, but at home (a new home but home nonetheless), he is 3-2 with a 2.44 ERA. In the last 30 days, the Giants have a 75 wRC+, a .133 ISO, and a 24.80% K rate versus righties. 

Angels Stadium is a new yet familiar surrounding for Giolito. "California weather, that’s what I grew up in, it’s what I’m used to,” he said. “I like the mound. I like the feel of the stadium. I’ve always enjoyed it.” Giolito has generally pitched well at Angel Stadium, going 4-1 with a 4.13 ERA in nine starts. Another value pitcher who could be in for a big night with his new team.

Others to consider: Max Scherzer, Eduardo Rodriguez, Sonny Gray, Wade Miley

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

William Contreras - C, MIL vs. COL ($4,800 DK, $3,000 FD)

For the season, Contreras is slashing .281/.351/.452; when facing lefties, he is .320/.397/.612. Contreras and the Brew Crew are facing Kyle Freeland, who is four and 12 for the season with a 4.86 ERA and a 5.22 xFIP. He has a 14.6% K rate and has lost four of his last five starts.

In Monday's win over the Rockies, Contreras went three for five with a double and three RBI in Milwaukee's 12-1 win over Colorado. He has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games and doubled in eight. Contreras should continue on this road tonight versus the Rockies.

Jeimer Candelario - 1B, CHC @ NYM ($4,000 DK, $3,300 FD)

The Cubbies have a 137 wRC+ and a .229 ISO for the season. Candelario is slashing .272/.356/.499 for the season and is batting .286/366/.543 versus right-handed pitchers with 14 home runs and 44 RBI. They are facing righty Carlos Carrasco, who is three and six with a 6.60 ERA for the season and a 14.9% K rate.

In 21 games post-All-Star break, he is batting .324/.435/.592, and since the trade deadline, when he returned home to Chicago, he is slashing .550/.625/.900. Look for the Candy Man to continue this way tonight in New York versus the Mets.

Freddie Freeman 3B, LAD @ ARI - ($6,200 DK, $4,500 FD)

Los Angeles projects to score five runs tonight in Arizona, and lefty Freeman will contribute to that total. He has 23 homers and 80 RBI for the season, with a .272/.356/.499 slash line; versus righties, he is .340/.418/.595. He is batting .406/.472 /.594 in eight games versus the D-Backs, and in 22 games post-All-Star break, he is slashing .420/.505/.750.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Aaron Judge - OF, NYY @ CHW ($6,500 DK, $4,000 FD)

While Judge is still not at his pre-All-Star break numbers (.405/.532/.865), he is still slashing .282/.406/.626 for the season, and versus righties, he is batting .304/.429/.696. Since returning from his toe injury, he is batting .231/.394/.385 with a .779 OPS, one home run, three RBI, and seven walks.

Judge and the Yankees face Touki Toussaint tonight in Chicago. Toussaint is one and four with a 3.92 ERA but has a 4.8 xFIP and is one and four in his last five starts. Look for Judge and the Bronx Bombers to score some runs tonight versus Toussaint and the White Sox.

Christopher Morel - OF, CHC @ NYM ($4,800 DK, $3,600 FD)

As mentioned above, the Cubs face the Mets in New York and right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco, who is three and six with a 6.60 ERA for the season and a 14.9% K rate. The Cubs are my top stack tonight, and their numbers versus right-handed pitchers speak for themselves. The Cubbies have a 137 wRC+ for the season with a .229 ISO.

In 20 games post-All-Star break, they are slashing .294/.368/.503 with 39 home runs and 157 RBI. Chicago is 2.5 games back in the NL Central, winning six of their last 10 games. Morel is slashing just .154/.313/.385 versus the Mets but in 33 games on the road, he is batting.279/.367/.549 with nine home runs and 22 RBI, and versus righties, he is .295/.364/.560. Look for Morel and the Cubs to continue their climb to the top of the NL Central with a win tonight in New York.

Mickey Moniak - OF, LAA vs. SFG ($5,200 DK, $3,00 FD)

Moniak and the Angels face lefty Alex Wood at home tonight in Los Angeles. Moniak's last five games haven't been impressive, slashing .167/.211/.333 and striking out 11 times. Fear not, dear readers. He has a batting average of 267/.296.500 in 33 home games this season and .336/.361/.618 in 42 games played at night.

"But Dawn," you ask, "how is he versus righties"? I'm glad you asked. In 59 games versus right-handed pitchers this season, he has a .335/.365 /.617 slash line with 12 home runs and 33 RBI. Don't worry about Mickey. Add him to your Cubs stack with confidence.
