Welcome back RotoBallers! Week 6 has arrived, and April is in the record books as we turn the calendar toward May. It's time for another rankings check-in. Below is another edition of Nick Mariano's updated 2023 fantasy baseball rankings and tiers for roto leagues (5x5 mixed leagues) as of May 3, 2023. These rankings are being released in early May and are looking at rest-of-season fantasy baseball rankings and player values for the rest of this MLB season from this point forward.
Philadelphia Phillies star outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) miraculously made his season debut on Tuesday, needing less than six months after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in late November. With April in the books, the Rays continue to out-slug everyone and have scored the most runs per game. Tampa Bay's offense has mashed 64 homers, 197 RBI, and 206 runs with a .873 OPS over 31 contests. Surprisingly, the Rangers, without star shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring), are second in the majors in runs (191) scored. Adolis Garica is slashing .361/.442/.778 with four homers and 10 RBI over his last 10 games. We have seen some top pitching prospects, such as Mason Miller, Tanner Bibee, Bryce Miller, and Logan Allen, promoted to the big leagues and produced for fantasy managers immediately. Injuries continue to pile up as New York Yankees superstar outfielder Aaron Judge (hip) and Texas Rangers ace Jacob deGrom (elbow) are on the 10-day injured list.
Some players are off to a terrific start, while some have struggled mightily to start the year. Which of these starts do we take seriously, and which do we put less stock into? Is it time to elevate our expectations on certain players and elevate touted prospects into a higher tier for fantasy baseball leagues? How much patience must we show for highly-touted players who have struggled out of the gate, especially veterans with proven track records? Hopefully, the rankings below will give you some perspective on our thoughts on these topics and help you assess the strength of your rosters going forward. Let's see where players such as Bryce Harper, Zac Gallen, Mason Miller, Logan Allen, Jarren Duran, Adolis Garcia, Josh Jung, Alex Verdugo, Max Muncy, Brett Baty, William Smith, Andrew Chafin rank, all of who are off to interesting starts in 2023.

Top 300 Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Week 6 Update
These rankings will be updated every week throughout the season, so some of these situations are very fluid. It's not panic time yet, and we may not be ready to elevate hot-starting players into the elite yet, but it's certainly a good checkpoint for the long fantasy season.
