Is Chase Edmonds A Good Fit With The Buccaneers? Fantasy Football Outlook

chase edmonds fantasy football rankings NFL DFS lineup picks

Did the Buccaneers Sign Chase Edmonds? Is Chase Edmonds A Good Fit With The Buccaneers? Read the 2023 NFL free agency outlook.

Former Denver Broncos running back Chase Edmonds signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency. The veteran running back was a fourth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The former Fordham star had a limited but solid role with the Cardinals. Edmonds had 333 rushing attempts for 1,551 yards and nine touchdowns in four years with the team. More importantly, the veteran running made an impact in the receiving game. He had 128 receptions on 164 targets for 921 receiving yards and five touchdowns in Arizona.

After four years with the NFC West team, the former Fordham star signed a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins last offseason. However, Edmonds didn’t spend the entire season with the Dolphins.

What Did Chase Edmonds Accomplish In 2022?

The veteran running was a popular fantasy draft target last year after signing with Miami. However, he was a massive bust. Edmonds had 42 rushing attempts for 120 yards and two touchdowns in eight games with the team. He also had 10 receptions on 17 targets for 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Miami was aggressive at the 2022 NFL trade deadline. They made a blockbuster move for edge rusher Bradley Chubb. The Dolphins also sent the San Francisco 49ers a 2023 fifth-round pick for Jeff Wilson Jr. With the addition of Wilson, Miami sent Edmonds to the Broncos as part of the Chubb deal.

Is Chase Edmonds A Good Fit With The Buccaneers?

The former Fordham star had a limited impact in Denver because of injuries. Edmonds had only 26 rushing attempts for 125 yards in five games. Furthermore, he had only six receptions on seven targets for 61 receiving yards.

Despite Javonte Williams’ injury, the Broncos released Edmonds earlier this offseason in a salary cap-saving move. However, the veteran running back signed a one-year deal for $1.1 million with the Buccaneers last week.

Tampa Bay released Leonard Fournette earlier this offseason, leaving Rachaad White as the lead running back on the roster. Fantasy players shouldn’t worry about the addition of Edmonds. The veteran running back has never been more than a change-of-pace player.

Furthermore, Edmonds will have to earn his spot on the final roster. He signed a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum. More importantly, only $152,000 of his salary for this year is guaranteed. Therefore, the veteran running back could get cut in August at little cost.
