The Houston Texans hired San Francisco 49ers passing-game coordinator Bobby Slowik as their offensive coordinator on Sunday, according to sources. Slowik and new Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans spent the last six years together in San Francisco, both starting their coaching careers as defensive quality control assistants. The 35-year-old Slowik hasn't called plays before in his coaching career. He'll also likely be working with a rookie quarterback in 2023, as the Texans have the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft. Slowik initially joined the Washington Commanders in 2010 as a video assistant before being promoted to a defensive assistant from 2011 to 2013. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was Washington's offensive coordinator then. Houston needs a lot of help on both sides of the ball, but their offense ranked 31st in yards per game (283.5) and points per game (17) in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
