DeWayne McBride - RB - UAB
UAB had the country's 53rd-best scoring offense this season, averaging 30.6 points per game, and a lot of the reason for that was DeWayne McBride, who had 233 carries for 1,713 yards. He also caught two passes for 10 yards.
McBride was the best offensive player in Conference USA and is a great physical runner. He's probably not going to be the kind of guy who plays three downs in the NFL because he didn't develop a receiving game in college, but he can pound the ball between the tackles and is one of the best pure runners in the country.
McBride's a top-10 running back in this upcoming class, and anyone who plays in dynasty leagues should have a close eye on him. He could be a real red zone weapon in the NFL.
Jermaine Brown Jr. - RB - UAB
The Blazers are lucky enough to also have another really good running back in Jermaine Brown Jr. He had 142 carries this season, gaining 832 yards and finding the end zone six times. He also caught 17 passes for 114 yards.
McBride will definitely find himself on an NFL roster. Brown...well, we'll have to see. The best-case scenario for him is that McBride goes pro now, and then Brown returns and gets a chance to showcase himself next season as the team's lead back.
Starling Thomas V - CB - UAB
One more name for you is UAB cornerback Starling Thomas V. No interceptions this season for Thomas, but he had 15 passes defended and 28 tackles.
He made it hard for opposing quarterbacks to complete passes his way and could be a late pick in the 2023 draft.
