Fantasy Football Injury Reports For NFL RBs: Week 8 Updates for Breece Hall, James Robinson, Chuba Hubbard, Gus Edwards

Chuba Hubbard - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Fantasy football RB injury updates and injury reports for running backs ahead of Week 8 (2022), as of 10/26, including Breece Hall, James Robinson, Chuba Hubbard, and Gus Edwards

Below you will find our fantasy football injuries roundup for running backs as of October 26th, coming out of the seventh week of NFL action. There have been new developments surrounding the injury statuses of various NFL running backs, including Breece Hall, James Robinson, Chuba Hubbard, and Gus Edwards.

The fantasy football season may be young, but every decision, transaction, and lineup change matters. These are some key running back injuries that managers will want to check on throughout the days leading up to Week 8.

Let's look at the updates for some running backs and see whether they may play in Week 8.

Breece Hall Injury Update

Hall tore his ACL during Sunday's win over the Broncos. This is a season-ending injury, and as a result, he has been placed on Injured Reserve. The talented rookie's season comes to a crashing halt after he totaled 463 rushing yards, 218 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. The Jets will pair Michael Carter with the newly-acquired James Robinson going forward.

James Robinson Injury Update

The Jets wasted no time solidifying their backfield after Hall's injury. New York struck a deal to acquire Robinson (knee) from the Jaguars on Monday night. The third-year back totaled 263 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns through his first three games. However, he recorded just 123 scrimmage yards over his last four contests combined. Part of Robinson's sudden disappearance from Jacksonville's offense can be placed on Travis Etienne's recent surge.

Meanwhile, Robinson was also dealing with a knee injury in Week 7 when he logged just one touch. It remains to be seen if this issue delays Robinson's Jets debut beyond Week 8. There's no denying that once he is healthy, the 24-year-old is a solid RB2 in redraft formats. New York loves to run the ball and Robinson should benefit.

Chuba Hubbard Injury Update

Hubbard (ankle) was sidelined for the end of Sunday's win over the Buccaneers, but he reportedly "could have come back in if needed." Despite registering a 46 percent snap share, Hubbard looked promising in his first game of the post-Christian McCaffrey era, amassing 63 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards, and one touchdown. The biggest obstacle for the 23-year-old going forward? Opportunities. He touched the ball just 11 times in Week 8 and continues to face stiff competition in the form of D'Onta Foreman.

Plus, if the Panthers' offense starts to struggle again, they could go with a pass-heavy approach, detracting from Hubbard and Foreman's upside. On a positive note, it looks like the former should be healthy enough to play versus Atlanta next week. For now, he ranks in the RB3 range.

Gus Edwards Injury Update

Edwards (knee) was limited in practice on Monday and Tuesday. Assuming he continues to practice in some capacity on Wednesday, he should be able to play in primetime versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his season debut last week, Edwards totaled 66 rushing yards and two touchdowns. It was a solid performance, but his 36 percent snap share suggests he will face competition in Week 8. As a result, Edwards falls into the RB3 tier.

Cam Akers Injury Update

Rams head coach Sean McVay told the media that Akers (personal) is not expected to play in Week 8. Los Angeles continues to explore a trade for its disgruntled back, and while there is a possibility that he remains on the team, all signs point to a divorce in the coming weeks. Akers' future fantasy value is wholly dependent on his landing spot. For now, he's borderline droppable in redraft formats.

Kyren Williams Injury Update

McVay offered an additional update on the running back position, explaining that the team may be able to discuss opening Williams' (ankle) 21-day return window soon. Evidently, he might not be able to play until at least Week 10, but at least there have been discussions about getting him back on the field. Presumably, an Akers trade would open the door for Williams to compete with Darrell Henderson for the lead-back role. The rookie should be rostered in all dynasty leagues, and he's even a solid stash in redraft formats if you have an open IR or bench spot.

Mike Boone Injury Update

Boone (ankle) has been placed on Injured Reserve, sidelining him for at least four weeks. The Broncos, who will move forward sans Boone and Javonte Williams (ACL), intend to use Melvin Gordon as their lead back. Latavius Murray will also play a sizable role while Marlon Mack offers depth.

Kyle Juszczyk Injury Update

X-rays revealed a broken bone for Juszczyk (finger) following Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. He will require surgery but might miss just one game due to the convenient positioning of the 49ers' Week 9 bye. The 31-year-old fullback doesn't scream fantasy intrigue, but he did combine for seven catches and 67 yards (13.7 fantasy points) over the course of his last two contests.

Travis Homer Injury Update

Homer (rib) is expected to return to practice on Wednesday, per head coach Pete Carroll. The 23-year-old hasn't played since Week 3. He totaled 18 rushing yards and 33 receiving yards over the course of the three games for which he was active. Presumably, Homer will rotate with DeeJay Dallas as the Seahawks' depth running back option behind rookie Kenneth Walker.
