DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Week 5 Daily College Fantasy Football - Saturday Prime Time (10/1/22)

Bijan Robinson - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Rookies, Draft Sleepers

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the Saturday Prime Time Week 5 (10/1/22) slate. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

The fun doesn't end with the main slate! It never does, right? We have a beautiful selection of games on this slate, including another battle of Tigers on the plains when LSU comes to town. Cincinnati heads to Tulsa to try and keep up their reputation as the bullies of the AAC (for one more year, anyway). Yet another Tigers team welcomes number one Georgia to Columbia.  The fun doesn't end there! West Virginia heads down to DKR to take on the stunned Longhorns. Virginia heads to Duke in a game that would likely be better with a round ball, but this should be fun too.

North Carolina State heads down to Clemson to see if they can pull off another upset of the Tigers (more Tigers?? Good grief...). Indiana heads to Nebraska for a battle of two teams trying to get back on track. Wyoming welcomes San Jose State to Laramie (a mile high? That's for posers, Denver. Come see how pigskin feels at 8,000 feet in October.). We close this out with Pitt hosting Georgia Tech. This is going to be a great one, especially since all of the game start within an hour.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/1/22 locking at 7 pm eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Devin Leary, North Carolina State ($7,100)

The Clemson secondary just got lit up by Sam Hartman last week. Injuries and youth have taken their toll on the Clemson unit and remain the way to get to the Tigers this year. I'm a bit nervous about Leary's underwhelming stat lines against East Carolina and Texas Tech. However, his price is low enough to take a chance on this kind of upside. Most of the quarterbacks on this slate have tough matchups.

Connor Bazelak, Indiana ($5,900)

Bazelak threw a staggering 66 passes in the loss to Cincinnati. If he throws that many passes against Nebraska, he'll hit triple digits. The Nebraska defense has been one of the worst in the country against the run, but they are also allowing 280.5 passing yards per game. However Indiana decides to go after the Huskers, they should have success. Indiana is a better passing team so I expect them to go after the Huskers through the air more than on the ground. At any rate, it should be a strong game for this price range.

Jordan Moore, Duke ($4,900)

Moore has only taken a few snaps as a quarterback this year and hasn't even attempted a pass. What he has done is led the Blue Devils in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. In fact, his three touchdown receptions are half of the entire team's total! Moore is going to be heavily involved in the offense again. Getting his WR1 stats for the price of a backup quarterback is quite a treat, making him a nice cheat code.

Also consider: Stetson Bennett, Georgia ($8,300); Brennan Armstrong, Virginia ($7,200); Casey Thompson, Nebraska ($7,000); Quinn Ewers, Texas ($6,300); Robby Ashford, Auburn ($5,200)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Israel Abanikanda, Pittsburgh ($7,500)

Georgia Tech has allowed a shade over 200 yards rushing per game so far this year. We saw how well the Bees handled John Rhys Plumlee last week. However, they couldn't handle him as a runner. Abanikanda has 464 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground over the last three games with one of those being against Tennessee. He is in for another huge night here.

Shaun Shivers, Indiana ($6,500)

The Auburn transfer had his best day of the year for DFS purposes against Cincinnati. The 79 rushing yards were nothing to write home about, but Shivers scored a touchdown rushing and caught five passes for another touchdown. The Hoosiers don't run a lot, but they do throw to the backs out of the backfield. Shivers has nine receptions over the last two games. He is in for a huge game against this Nebraska defense.

Noah Cain, LSU ($3,800)

LSU has chewed up most of their yardage through the air, but Cain has scored four touchdowns in three games. The Penn State transfer is starting to carve out a little more of a role in this offense, but the return of John Emery from a year-long academic suspension muddies the waters a little. Still, Cain is getting the touchdowns and Emery has looked rusty at best and lost a fumble against New Mexico last week. For now, I still like Cain the most out of the LSU backs and he's a cheap enough dart for a GPP tournament.

Also consider: Bijan Robinson, Texas ($8,600); Tank Bigsby, Auburn ($6,300); Anthony Grant, Nebraska ($6,100); Perris Jones, Virginia ($5,300); Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, North Carolina State ($4,300)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Tyler Scott, Cincinnati ($7,100)

We were all patiently waiting for who would rise to the top of the Bearcats receiving corps to take the place of Alec Pierce. Without a doubt, it's Scott. He has 18 receptions for 304 yards and four touchdowns over the last two games. He was involved in the opener against Arkansas, but now it seems as though Cincinnati is calling plays with Scott in mind. Tulsa has a solid defense, but considering Scott has double-digit DraftKings points in every game, I'm not sure solid is enough.

Cam Camper, Indiana ($6,200)

Almost every Indiana piece is underpriced tonight. Did people forget how poorly the Nebraska defense has played since they were off last week? They have a new defensive coordinator and have had a week to prepare, so I do thing there will be some kind of improvement within the Nebraska defense. I'm just not sure it will matter that much against a fast-paced team like Indiana. The Hoosiers are going to rack up a lot of yards and probably a fair amount of points to go with it. Make sure you have some pieces as well. Camper leads the team in receptions and yards and could have a huge day if D.J. Matthews is out.

CJ Donaldson, West Virginia ($5,000)

Donaldson is more running back than receiver, so I'm not sure why DraftKings moved him to receiver. At any rate, Donaldson has three 100-yard rushing games in four tries. Kansas was the only team to hold him under, but he ran for two touchdowns in that game, so he was still a DFS monster. His low-water mark on the season is 17.2 DraftKings points. He's the best bargain on the entire slate, so don't be caught sleeping! He's going to get his touches against Texas and really only needs one big play to hit value.

Kayshon Boutte, LSU ($3,200)

Boutte was LSU's leading receiver last year, but he hasn't developed the rapport with Arizona State transfer Jayden Daniels that Jenkins has. Coach Brian Kelly said that Boutte was going to be more involved in the offense going forward. On the chance that is true, he is priced way too low. Even if Boutte only has his production so far in 2022, he'll still get us around eight DraftKings points. That's a great floor with huge upside!

Also consider: Brock Bowers, Georgia ($7,200);  Thayer Thomas, North Carolina State ($6,000); Keytaon Thompson, Virginia ($6,000); Tre Tucker, Cincinnati ($5,900); Trey Palmer, Nebraska ($5,500); Dominic Lovett, Missouri ($4,600); Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas ($3,400)

College Football DFS Game Stack Options

You know which team stacks are often good, but this isn't baseball. Game stacks can and do work. I prefer more team stacks on this slate, but there is some goodness in one of these games for sure. Which one is it?

Indiana at Nebraska

I checked the over/under on this game and all it has was a picture of a scoreboard smoking (okay...it wasn't quite that bad. It's still low at 61). Neither defense has performed as expected this season and both offenses are solid. Both quarterbacks are in play here, but I'm not all that crazy about the Nebraska running game. However, I do like both Indiana backs. Shaun Shivers is a must-play and even Josh Henderson is a solid play since Indiana uses him a lot.

The receivers is where it gets fun. Cam Camper will be in all of my lineups whether D.J. Matthews plays or not. If Matthews is out, that opens things up for Javon Swinton and AJ Barner as value plays. I really like Trey Palmer for Nebraska and Marcus Washington was the guy that had the big game against Georgia Southern. What that says is that Casey Thompson will throw to whoever is open. Travis Vokolek is a massive tight end that is a favorite target when healthy and he finally seems to be healthy again. He's a great value play here.

Honorable Mention: North Carolina State at Clemson
