5 Dynasty Fantasy Football Quarterback Sleepers for Superflex Leagues (2025)

J.J. McCarthy - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Draft Sleepers

Dave's quarterback sleepers for superflex dynasty fantasy football leagues. His top QB draft or trade targets for 2025 fantasy football, including J.J. McCarthy, Jalen Milroe, and more.

Quarterbacks are always in high demand in superflex dynasty football leagues. If you can find two top-end signal-callers, you will have a big advantage over the rest of your league.

The high-end quarterbacks are tough to acquire in most dynasty leagues. However, potential sleeper quarterbacks are a more affordable option for gamers looking to upgrade the position. Today, we will discuss several sleeper quarterbacks dynasty gamers should try to acquire.

Make sure you’re following RotoBaller on X and check out RotoBaller.com for all your fantasy football needs. Here are five quarterback sleepers for 2025 dynasty football leagues.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

J.J. McCarthy - Minnesota Vikings

McCarthy missed his entire rookie year in 2024 after tearing his meniscus in training camp.

Following McCarthy’s injury, Sam Darnold became Minnesota’s de facto QB1 and had an incredible 2024. He threw for a career-high 4,319 yards and 35 passing touchdowns but came crashing down to earth in the season’s final two games.

Minnesota subsequently decided not to re-sign Darnold, allowing him to walk into free agency. McCarthy had to survive a brief scare that future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers would join Minnesota. However, that storm has passed, and the Vikings have confirmed they are committed to McCarthy for the 2025 season.

McCarthy's status is uncertain since he missed his entire rookie season. However, he is still a quarterback with top-10 draft capital tied to a strong offensive coach and surrounded by an abundance of talent. It's hard to find a better situation for a first-time starting quarterback.

Yes, we don't know McCarthy's true floor, and he could hurt your team if he's truly awful. But he might also have a higher ceiling than some people think. Head coach Kevin O'Connell worked wonders for Darnold's career last year. Considering McCarthy's, it shouldn't be that surprising if he has similar production.

Michael Penix Jr. - Atlanta Falcons

Penix took over as the Falcons' starter when Kirk Cousins struggled down the stretch last year. He only went 1-2 in three starts and threw three touchdown passes against three interceptions. While the stats don’t blow you away, there are reasons to be encouraged for the future.

Penix also showcased a big arm and stepped up late in a game against the Washington Commanders with Atlanta’s season on the line.

Atlanta will now have an entire offseason to craft an offense catered to his skill set. It will also give Penix time to develop chemistry with Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and the other Falcons skill players. This situation is not quite as good as McCarthy’s, but things are set up well for Penix. All of this makes him a fine QB2 option to target in trades or start-up drafts.

Justin Fields - New York Jets

Fields posted a 4-2 record in six games as the Steelers' starter last year before being benched in favor of Russell Wilson. Despite the benching, Fields still managed to provide results for fantasy gamers, thanks in large part to his legs. He scored five rushing touchdowns in his six starts and finished as a QB1 three times.

For some unknown reason, the Steelers were prepared to make Fields their starting quarterback in 2025, despite benching him last year. Fields had none of it and signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the New York Jets.

Now that Fields has landed a starting job, he is an immediate QB1 option for fantasy owners. However, it's worth noting that the 2026 quarterback class is supposedly very strong. If the Jets wind up with a top-10 pick next year, they could very well take a quarterback. Fields may be just a placeholder.

While all that might be true, he is set to begin the 2025 season as the Jets' undisputed QB1. There's certainly some risk, but Fields is another fine QB2 target for gamers. He offers managers a safe floor and is a great fantasy option whenever he’s on the field.

Jalen Milroe - Seattle Seahawks

The former Alabama quarterback was a polarizing prospect in the lead-up to the NFL Draft. Milroe displayed big-time athleticism and play-making ability on the ground. He ran for over 1,200 rushing yards and scored 32 rushing touchdowns in the last two seasons as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback.

That kind of rushing upside gives a very high fantasy football ceiling.

Quarterbacks who score points on the ground have long been fantasy football cheat codes. More and more of the top fantasy quarterbacks are built in this mold. This makes Milroe a tantalizing pick for dynasty gamers, particularly those who play superflex leagues.

However, a significant area of concern for Milroe is his accuracy and ability to play from the pocket. He struggled with accuracy during his collegiate career, and this caused him to fall to the third round of the NFL Draft. It’s worth pointing out that concerns regarding his passing may have been overblown.

If Anthony Richardson hadn’t gone down his current road, Milroe would have been viewed more favorably by NFL teams. Either way, he fell in the draft for these concerns, but landed in an interesting situation when the Seattle Seahawks selected him in the third round.

Seattle signed Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract this offseason. While that seems like a strong commitment, the specifics of the contract say otherwise. Seattle has an out in Darnold’s contract following the 2025 season. If his play in 2025 resembles anything close to what we saw in the final two games of 2024, it’s very possible he won’t get another year as the starter.

That’s where things could get interesting with Milroe. In the weeks following the NFL Draft, the Seahawks have discussed his intangibles and work ethic. They have also signaled they are committed to developing him as a passer. Milroe is already doing his part and has reportedly begun improving his mechanics.

It’s also possible Seattle struggles to begin the 2025 season and gives Milroe an extended look as a starter to see if they need to draft a quarterback from the loaded 2026 class. Given his rushing upside, Milroe should immediately return fantasy results in this scenario.

Milroe is a big-time gamble but might be worth it. You get all the upside of a Richardson-type prospect but carry nowhere near the risk.

Daniel Jones- Indianapolis Colts

Okay look. I know this is gross, and I’m holding back some vomit while writing this. However, there’s a very real possibility Richardson will be benched in favor of Jones during the regular season.

Jones was brought in to push Richardson for the starting job. The latter has really struggled as a passer during the first two years of his career. Concerns about Richardson’s professionalism also emerged last season. This is clearly a make-or-break season for the third-year signal-caller. If Richardson struggles continue in 2025, the Colts won’t hesitate to turn things over to the former New York Giant.

Jones is a confirmed bust, but he can still be useful in a superflex league thanks to his rushing ability. If you desperately need a quarterback in a superflex league, Jones is a potentially cheap band-aid for the position. He can return QB2 production at an affordable cost. Now go rinse out our mouths and get on with our day.
