Week 10 Fantasy Football Rankings: Standard and PPR Analysis

RotoBaller's 2015 Week 10 fantasy football rankings analysis and tiered ranks, for both PPR and non-PPR leagues, and all NFL positions (QB, RB, WR, TE, DEF). Rankings advice for your Week 9 matchups.

What's up RotoBallers. Week 9 is complete and we hope you managed to secure the win! To celebrate, today we are bringing you our Week 10 fantasy football rankings to help prepare you for your Week 10 matchups.

Below you will find both PPR rankings and standard league rankings for Week 10, brought to you by Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades) and Edward Gorelik (@EdwardGorelik). Lead fantasy football columnist Edward Gorelik also highlights some rankings analysis for Week 10, broken out by position, and draws some matchup conclusions. He tells you who he likes, who he doesn't, and most importantly who he thinks you should be starting in Week 10.

You can also check out our 2015 fantasy football ranking dashboard, for more in depth rankings analysis on all positions including rookies and dynasty leagues. Rankings are subject to change leading up to the games.

Week 10 Fantasy Football Rankings - All Positions

Week 10 Quarterback (QB) Rankings Analysis

By Edward Gorelik (@Edward Gorelik)

Derek Carr's the newest addition to the top 5, mostly because he's been on a TEAR through the last four weeks, scoring the 6th most of all quarterbacks during that time. Although the Minnesota Vikings defense hasn't been particularly friendly to quarterbacks, a quick look at their schedule reveals why: they haven't played many good ones.

In fact, so far this season all they've really faced are offenses that are former shells of themselves (outside of the Rivers' led Chargers). Even with the low fantasy output, they're ranked as average in DVOA (15th) but allow above average yardage to WR1s, WR2s, and TEs- two of those being positions that Derek Carr utilizes heavily. Expect another great game from the young breakout.

I am one of the biggest haters out there of Ryan Fitzpatrick but somehow his fantasy value has remained consistent all year long. In fact, over the last four weeks he's managed to be QB6- right behind Derek Carr. Playing against the team he was once thought to be the savior for, Fitzpatrick has a potential revenge game here that I am kind of willing to buy.

In fact, going back- Fitzpatrick's career against Rex Ryan's defenses has had three multi-touchdown games (including two 3-touchdown games) out of seven games matched up against each other. However, some of those defenses were far better than the current Bills defense (like the '09 and '10 Jets) and those offenses were far less offensively talented than this. Fitzpatrick has high end QB2 written on him, and might sneak into the QB1s this week.

Dropping out of QB1's is Carson Palmer, who faces the Seahawks at their house. Everyone knows the Seahawks season isn't going as expected but that doesn't change that they've allowed the second lowest points to QBs the last four weeks - with two of those games coming against Andy Dalton and Cam Newton. Even outside of four weeks, they've allowed the 3rd lowest on the season in general. Their defense is rising the ranks of DVOA and currently sit in top 10 for pass defense and run defense, so this isn't looking like the best matchup- especially if John Brown (who presents the best matchup advantage against the Seahawks) is still injured.

Week 10 Running Back (RB) Rankings Analysis

By Edward Gorelik (@Edward Gorelik)

Marshawn Lynch is going to remain high on the rankings this week despite an unfavorable matchup with the Cardinals. The Cardinals are currently giving up amongst the least points to running backs on the season but a quick look at their schedule reveals that they've faced few running backs worth their weight.

On top of that, most of it comes from being ahead (causing their opponents to stop running)- and it shouldn't be expected that they'll get far ahead of the Seahawks on their home ground this week. Dallas has is currently ranked 27th in run defense DVOA and allowing 62 yards per game through the air to running backs, making Doug Martin a really good looking potential high RB1 this week.

Jeremy Langford was the waiver darling of last week but let's not forget the context of his big breakout debut, the Chargers are one of the worst front-7s in all of football, are currently ranked dead last in run defense DVOA, and have allowed the highest fantasy points all season long to running backs. While there's plenty to be optimistic about, Langford sits a lot closer to the bottom end of RB2s against a Rams defense that is top 5 in DVOA and top 10 in defending running backs in fantasy.

New England is just above average in DVOA against RBs while also being just above average for yardage allowed through the air. Meanwhile, they've allowed a top 8 amount of receptions and yards to them over the last four weeks. Now, I love narratives like revenge games, so because of these average numbers I can't say it's not impossible for Shane Vareen to pull up a high RB2 week. He's ranked as a low RB2 though.

Week 10 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings Analysis

By Edward Gorelik (@Edward Gorelik)

Calvin Johnson just feels like a very bad play when he's injured. We saw it last year and the year before, when Johnson is hurt he doesn't seem to play through it as well as he use to. I've got Johnson currently as a WR2 this upcoming week against a weak Green Bay defense but as injury news comes forth, his ranking might change. Michael Crabtree has been on a tear the last two weeks with over a 100 yards and at least a touchdown in each game.

With Bridgewater potentially out of the lineup this Sunday, there's a good chance that the Raiders might hold the ball a lot, and with Latavius Murray potentially out for them, they might opt for passing to keep the clock running rather than rushing. I'm expecting another great game from Crabtree and Amari Cooper.

Big receivers just never seem to do well against the Seahawks and Larry Fitzgerald has not been immune to that. Although previous years have featured much different quarterbacking talents than Carson Palmer- it doesn't change that even Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant were kept in check just this year.

The Seahawks allow only 38.4 yards per week to WR1s as of week 10. Kamar Aiken's looking like he's in good position to take a WR2 role after his big waiver wire pickup week. The Jaguars have allowed above average yardage on the season to WR1s and Aiken has produced decently in any week where he's had 6 or more targets. Knowing that the Jaguars are actually a good team against the run, and that the Ravens have a chance to fall behind against their high powered passing attack- the Ravens might see themselves throwing often in Aiken's direction.

Week 10 Tight End (TE) Rankings Analysis

By Edward Gorelik (@Edward Gorelik)

Is it possible for Eric Ebron to be amongst the top scoring TEs this week? I'd say so, the Packers have been horrendous against the position this year, allowing the second most yards per game to them and third most fantasy points over the last four weeks. With Calvin injured and generally hard to trust through injury, Ebron is looking at a good chance to take up some added production this week.

Jimmy Graham faces an awful matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, where they've allowed the 3rd lowest yards per game to tight ends and the 3rd lowest points to the position all year, while only dropping down to 6th lowest in the last 4 weeks. That includes games against Gary Barnidge, Heath Miller, and Eric Ebron- three pretty decent tight ends. Graham is a level above them all but the lack of trusted volume on a weekly basis makes him a low end TE1 this week.
