Wyndham Championship Power Rankings: Top 10 Players To Watch (2025)

TourPicks ranks his top-10 Players to watch for at the 2025 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club. His insights on the top-10 golfers for the week and reasons why they are primed to win.

As we begin to wrap up the 2025 PGA Tour Season, the strongest field in many years has committed to the 2025 Wyndham Championship in hopes of accumulating some much-needed late-season FedEx Cup points as players make their final push toward the playoffs. Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC, once again plays host as this classic Donald Ross design always finds a way to challenge players with tricky greens and a tight layout.

In this article, given the historical context and data, I'll break down my Top 10 Power Rankings for players based on recent form and specific player profiles that I believe are the best data-driven fits for Sedgefield Country Club. With data that goes back a number of years, we should be able to identify specific skill sets that have proven successful, with an eye on which players are best suited to win this tournament in 2025.

Let’s get right into my Top 10 Power Rankings for the 2025 Wyndham Championship:

No. 10 - Ryan Fox

  • Fox is ranked inside the Top-5 in the field over the past 36 rounds in SG: Ballstriking and SG: Approach.

  • Career-best year for Fox, who has now has 2 PGA Tour wins in his last eight starts.
  • Fox was crushed by horrible putting in the UK, but gained +14 strokes with the putter in his previous three starts at the Canadian Open, US Open, and the Travelers Championship.

No. 9 - Harry Hall

  • Hall continues his run of impeccable short game, a terrific attribute to bring to a course like Sedgefield where the scrambling rate is low compared to PGA Tour average.

  • 2nd best player in the field in birdies per round over the past 50 rounds played.
  • Tricky multi-tiered Ross greens should not pose a problem for Hall. He leads the field in putting and ranks 3rd in 3-putt avoidance.

No. 8 - Jake Knapp

  • Knapp has unlocked a new level of consistency, doing it across multiple course styles and setups. Five straight finishes inside the Top 27 as in the mix again at the 3M Open.

  • Dominant player OTT, recently gaining +5.7 OTT at the Rocket Classic, which is another Donald Ross design course. He'll have to be more accurate at Sedgefield, but Knapp has a great offspeed fairway finder he can go to when needed.
  • He continues to linger in tournaments on the leaderboard. It feels like a win could be imminent.

No. 7 - Robert MacIntyre

  • MacIntyre consistently increases his performance OTT on less than Driver courses. He ranks 5th best in the field.

  • Three finishes of T17 or better in his last four starts, including a solo 2nd at the US Open.
  • MacIntyre has leveled up this season and possesses the guts to come through in winning moments late in tournaments.

No. 6 - Aaron Rai

  • 2024 Winner of the Wyndham Championship. Rai shot -6 in the final round to win by two strokes and led the field in Approach for the week.

  • Highly accurate Driver that sets up perfectly for the demanding layout of Sedgefield Country Club, where playing from the fairway is a must.
  • Struggling a bit on the greens to get his putter dialed in, but it doesn't take a huge week with the flat stick for Rai to win. He won this event last season by only gaining +2.5 on the greens. It's all about the ballstriking.

No. 5 - Lucas Glover

  • Another former Champion checks in at No. 5. Lucas Glover was the 2023 Wyndham Championship winner.

  • One of the best iron players in the field from 100-175 yards, a key proximity bucket for this week. Glover is flushing his irons in recent weeks.
  • Tops of the field in Driving accuracy and approach play. Glover is coming off a solid week at The Open Championship and a T5 at the John Deere Classic in his last two starts.

No. 4 - Ben Griffin

  • Sedgefield CC has always felt like an ideal course for Griffin. T7 last year here and a solo 4th in 2022 highlight his abilities.
  • Griffin is the 3rd best player in the field over the last 30 rounds in Approach play and 1st in strokes gained total.
  • Bermuda grass specialist on the greens, Griffin is the best putter in the field on these style greens.

No. 3 - Hideki Matsuyama

  • Matsuyama is rekindling some of the red-hot iron form that he showcased earlier this season. He's been a gainer on Approach in four consecutive tournaments.

  • 3rd best in the field in strokes gained total this season on comp-courses in my stat model. Demanding ball-striking golf courses are often where Matsuyama's skills are accentuated.
  • Surprisingly poor course history, but his incoming form has me believing he can turn that around this season.

No. 2 - Keegan Bradley

  • Captain Keegan is the No. 1-ranked player in the field around the greens, a recently added skill for Bradley that will suit him well at the Wyndham Championship.

  • T22 at this tournament last season, but Bradley is keen on staying in form with plans on teeing it up at Bethpage in a few weeks.
  • Bradley got his win a month ago at TPC River Highlands, a similarly short course with demanding lines off the tee. He's playing well in all facets at the moment, and this is a Keegan golf course.

No. 1 - Matt Fitzpatrick

  • Talk about saving a lost season, no one has done it better than Fitzpatrick, who has truly found something over the past month.
  • T17, T8, T4, and T4 in his last four starts. He's gaining in all four categories and is clearly trending toward getting back into the winner's circle.
  • Savy enough around the greens to scramble, but his ability to pound greens in regulation over the past month is what will propel him to victory at the Wyndham Championship this week. Fitz is back!

Enjoy the Wyndham Championship, and thanks for reading! Good luck, RotoBaller family!
