WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (8/12/20): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/12/20. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Last night was a good night for us here at RotoBaller. I won a tournament on DraftKings. One of our readers came really close to winning a tournament on FanDuel. Can we have a repeat performance on Thursday night?

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/12/20. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

DeWanna Bonner (G, Connecticut Sun) – vs Dallas Wings (DK: $11,100, FD: $8,000)

I'd steered away from Bonner lately, but I think a meeting with Dallas makes her someone worth playing because her upside is through the roof.

The Wings defense has struggled, as they own the fourth-worst defensive rating in the league. They did manage to hold Bonner in check back on August 6th, limiting her to eight points on 3-for-6 shooting, but her volume has returned over the past two games, even if her efficiency isn't. She remains a threat for something like 25 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, and while her last game against this team gives me pause, I think I'm a bigger believer in Bonner's overall game and Dallas's overall defensive woes than in a one-game sample.

Courtney Williams (G, Atlanta Dream) – vs Seattle Storm (DK: $8,300, FD: $5,300)

I'm especially interested in Williams over on FanDuel, but she intrigues me on both platforms. Yes, Seattle's a scary matchup, but with Chennedy Carter sidelined for the next two weeks with an ankle injury, Williams is about to step into a larger role for the Dream.

Williams has three games in a row with double-digit points, and she's collected 20 boards over the past three contests. Her four assists against Connecticut tied her season high, and she should have chances to surpass that as the ball will be in her hands more now that Carter's out.

Allisha Gray (G, Dallas Wings) – vs Connecticut Sun (DK: $6,400, FD: $5,000)

The non-Arike Dallas guards remain pretty low-priced on both platforms, probably because figuring out head coach Brian Agler's rotations has been a little tough for everyone, which I'd guess includes the people pricing players.

But Gray's moved into the starting five for Dallas and has responded with back-to-back games with double-digit points, including a 17-point, seven-rebound effort against the Mercury.

I don't love the matchup with Connecticut, but I do love this cheap price for a WNBA starter. Gray's been taking on more and more responsibility on this team, with three of her four highest minutes loads coming in the last three games. I fully buy her as a fantasy riser.

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Brionna Jones (F, Connecticut Sun) – vs Dallas Wings (DK: $7,700 FD: $5,800)

Dallas allows the second-most paint points in the WNBA this season. At first, I thought I'd write about how that helps Alyssa Thomas, but then I decided to pivot and save some cash by talking about her teammate, Brionna Jones.

Thomas has really taken some strides as a player this year, going from a bit of a fringe piece to a key member of this Sun rotation. She had 17 points and six rebounds the last time she faced Dallas, and she's done a good job swiping away balls to add to her steals total. It's also worth noting that Dallas allows more rebounds to opposing players than any other team.

Brianna Turner (F, Phoenix Mercury) – vs Chicago Sky (DK: $7,200, FD: $5,400)

I wrote a whole bunch of words about Turner and then my computer crashed and I lost them all, so I'll just quickly summarize: Chicago allows the third-most points per game. Turner is coming off her best performance of the season, but before that was coming off her worst performance. I think of players priced in this range, she has the most upside, but also might have one of the lowest floors. How risky are you feeling? Her 30-plus minute workload last game makes me lean towards feeling good about rostering her.

Ezi Magbegor (F, Seattle Storm) – vs Atlanta Dream (DK: $5,000, FD: $4,000)

Whatever's going on with Natasha Howard has moved from "okay, just a slump" to "definitely concerning" and finally to "maybe just play the rookie more."

Howard still hasn't scored more than seven points in a game this year, and Magbegor got her second-most minutes of the year last game, responding with 13 points, three boards, and a block. Upside is high with the 20-year-old, whose play is making Seattle rethink some lineup construction things.

She isn't going to be a starter yet, but expect more Ezi. And if that more comes against a team with the league's second-worst defensive rating that allows the third-most paint points, Magbegor could be a really good low-cost play that allows you to fill the top end of your DFS roster with some heavy hitters.
