Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 8:

Jordan Mason, RB, Vikings
Trade Value: 28.1
ROS Rank: 81

Running back Jordan Mason has had the run of the Minnesota Vikings backfield in the past few weeks, but his workload will be worth monitoring as Aaron Jones Sr. (hamstring) is now eligible to come off Injured Reserve. The Vikings initially were targeting Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers, a Thursday night game, to bring back Jones, but so far, have not officially activated him.

Mason has been decent if not great in Jones' absence, but it's worth noting that four of five starters on the offensive line have been impacted by injuries and starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy has missed four straight games. Mason may have another week in the lead role, but Jones is likely to play a factor when he returns.

Verdict: Avoid in trades with Jones returning, sell-high to address team needs at other positions

Quinshon Judkins, RB, Browns
Trade Value: 53.6
ROS Rank: 38

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins carried the ball 25 times for 84 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns during Sunday's Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins. He was not targeted in the passing game. Judkins' yardage efficiency (3.4 YPC) was nothing special, but that's a moot point when you look at his touchdown efficiency.

The rookie had a great opportunity to thrive this week against a Dolphins defense that has struggled to defend the run all year. Miami's offensive woes also helped Judkins, giving the ball back to Cleveland's offense quite often. Judkins certainly capitalized on his opportunities and now has double-digit fantasy points (PPR) in five of his six games. He should be viewed as a low-end RB1 heading into Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

Verdict: Buy-high if can afford and need rock solid RB2 with upside

Cam Skattebo, RB, Giants
Trade Value: 47
ROS Rank: 46

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo had 16 carries for 60 yards along with three catches for 34 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-32 loss to the Broncos. Skattebo couldn't find a whole lot of running room against a stout Denver defense, but made up for some of it as a receiver. The rookie again maintained a firm lead in touches over Tyrone Tracy Jr., but he was more involved in this one, rushing for 46 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

Skattebo should continue to operate as the Giants' lead back and preferred option near the goal line and in the passing game, which bodes well for his fantasy value moving forward in an improving Giants offense.

Verdict: Buy if you still can at a reasonable price

Chris Olave, WR, Saints
Trade Value: 48.5
ROS Rank: 44

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave (ankle) missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury that he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, a source told Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. However, he's expected to play on Sunday when the team hosts the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Olave apparently injured his ankle in last Sunday's loss but still managed to play 84% of the offensive snaps while dominating for fantasy managers with five catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns on seven targets.

The 25-year-old former first-rounder is getting a maintenance day on Wednesday and should return to practice later this week and be fine to suit up against the division-rival Bucs this weekend. Olave has exactly 98 yards in each of the last two weeks and has been a must-start in fantasy lineups despite working with quarterback Spencer Rattler this year.

Verdict: Avoid in trades

Who Should I Trade For?

Week 8 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Chris Olave, Jordan Mason, Quinshon Judkins, Cam Skattebo, Kenneth Walker, Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.

Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.

How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.

How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
