Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 5:
D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift rushed for 58 yards on 15 carries during Sunday's Week 4 win over the New York Jets. He also caught two passes for 16 receiving yards. Swift averaged fewer than four yards per carry, and he also fumbled the ball away for the second time in the last three weeks. Not only did the veteran have a suboptimal day, but his teammate, Kyle Monangai, was absolutely explosive. Monangai had one of the best games of his young career, carrying the ball 30 times for 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
For Swift's fantasy managers, seeing his inefficiency, his fumble, and his teammate's career performance was a nightmare combination. This Chicago offense loves to run the football, so it's not as if Swift has lost his fantasy relevance forever. However, he entered this week as a top-eight running back in total scoring, and he'll leave this week as a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3 going forward. The good news for Swift is that he gets a softer matchup next week against the Packers.
Wan'Dale Robinson, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson should be more popular off the waiver wire this week after finding the end zone for a second straight game in Sunday's 24-18 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. Robinson was out-snapped by rookie Carnell Tate 54 to 43 in the game and caught only three passes for 19 yards, but he found the end zone for the second straight week after his seven-catch, 57-yard, one-touchdown performance in the Week 3 loss to the New York Giants.
The 25-year-old's touchdown on Sunday came with just over a minute left in regulation. He has not been the target hog that he was the last few years with the Giants, as Robinson has 16 catches on 23 targets for 123 yards and two touchdowns in his first four games with Tennessee. Still, Robinson can be useful as wide receiver depth for fantasy managers, especially if he can continue to develop chemistry with young quarterback Cam Ward. He could be a nice flex play at wideout for the Titans' upcoming matchup this Sunday against the winless Houston Texans.
Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman has made a couple of big plays this season, but the weekly volume is becoming the problem. His best game came with Zay Flowers out in Week 2, when Bateman caught seven of nine targets for 88 yards and a touchdown. Flowers returned the next week, and Bateman has seen only five targets over the two games since, finishing with two catches in each. He still has 171 yards through four games, so this is not about Bateman suddenly losing the ability to make plays.
There just is not much to work with when the targets dry up. Lamar Jackson's ankle injury does not help matters heading into Atlanta, either. RotoBaller currently has Bateman around WR48 for Week 5 after listing him as a drop in most leagues entering Week 4. In standard 10- and 12-team leagues, managers can move on if a more dependable waiver option is available. He is easier to hold in deeper formats.
