Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 5:
David Montgomery, Houston Texans
Houston Texans running back David Montgomery rushed for just 24 yards on 10 carries during Sunday's Week 4 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. He was also credited with 19 receiving yards (but not a reception) on a hook-and-ladder play. The veteran running back's Week 1 performance, in which he scored three touchdowns, seems to be an anomaly. He hasn't scored a touchdown since then, nor has he posted double-digit fantasy points.
The worst part of Montgomery's fantasy profile is his extreme inefficiency, as he has averaged just 2.8 yards per carry this season. Week 4 was particularly bad for Montgomery, who averaged just 2.4 yards per carry against Dallas and has averaged 3.0 or fewer yards per carry in every game this year. As long as the Texans' offense continues to underperform and Woody Marks vultures carries, Montgomery belongs outside the top-36 running back tier for fantasy football.
Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum took a backseat to his team's lead back, Kyren Williams, in his team's big win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. The backup carried the ball just five times for 14 yards and caught one of his paltry two targets for seven yards, finishing with 3.1 PPR fantasy points. It was the second time in as many games that he failed to make an impact in fantasy football, and it's not hard to see why when you look at game script and juxtapose it with the usage of these two running backs.
When Los Angeles builds a safe lead against a team that isn't putting up much of a fight, they rely on Corum to help them chew the clock down and protect their lead. In crucial moments of close games against tougher opponents, the Rams lean on Williams, as he's a very reliable, high-IQ player that won't make crucial mistakes.
He's cleaned up his fumbling issues substantially from two seasons ago, at least if last season is any indication. Corum is best left on the bench for Week 5, as the Rams will take on the Buffalo Bills, one of the NFL's best offenses. They're likely to lean heavily on Williams, as very few leads are safe against Josh Allen and co.
Kalif Raymond, Chicago Bears
After leading the team in receiving through the first three games of the season, Chicago Bears wide receiver Kalif Raymond came back to earth in a Week 4 win over the New York Jets, catching only two passes for six yards. With the Bears' passing offense looking more like what fantasy managers expected and finally running through Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland, Raymond is likely to hit waiver wires in many leagues.
Outside of the deepest formats, he does not need to be viewed as a priority target or even a hold. Raymond has had fantasy-relevant stretches in the past, but has never proven to be a trustworthy every-week starter, and without an injury ahead of him on the depth chart, he is unlikely to consistently see the type of unexpected volume with which he opened the year.
Tyler Allgeier, Arizona Cardinals
Across four games in 2026, Arizona Cardinals running back Tyler Allgeier has recorded 147 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 42 touches. After starting Arizona's first two games of the season, Allgeier has given way to Cardinals rookie back Jeremiyah Love (ankle). The third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Love clearly profiles as the future of the Arizona backfield.
However, Love battled an ankle injury during the preseason, and it was revealed on Monday that he is battling renewed ankle discomfort. Allgeier has proven he can be productive when given the opportunity, as he rushed for over 1,000 yards as a rookie in 2022. If Love ends up missing time, Allgeier could work his way into must-start territory in a favorable Week 5 matchup against the awful Detroit Lions defense.
With Love's health uncertain, fantasy managers may want to target Allgeier on the waiver wire.
Brian Robinson, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons running back Brian Robinson rushed 14 times for 62 yards and three touchdowns and caught one pass for five yards in his team's blowout win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. It was surprising to see Robinson have so much standalone value when backing up elite starting RB Bijan Robinson, who's one of the best RBs in the league. Robinson (Bijan) only had two touchdowns.
But the Falcons offense is rolling, and they did a good job slowing down New Orleans' offense. Atlanta built such a lead so quickly that they didn't have to keep their starting RB on the field as much as possible, which allowed Robinson (Brian) to have a big game. It's likely that in closer games, Robinson (Bijan) will still handle the majority of the touches while Robinson (Brian) only handles a handful of touches.
But with how well Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is playing, more blowout wins could be in the future, and the potential for Robinson (Brian) to have league-winning upside is huge if Robinson (Bijan) gets hurt. So the former Washington Commander should be added in all leagues, at least as a handcuff, ahead of Week 5.
