Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 15:
John Metchie, WR, New York Jets
New York Jets wide receiver John Metchie III is getting an increased look in this offense down the stretch of the season. Over the last three games, Metchie has seen seven or more targets in each contest. The 25-year-old has also played 82 percent or more of the offensive snaps in four straight games since being acquired via trade.
The Jets are without Garrett Wilson (knee), potentially for the rest of the year, and someone has to catch passes for Gang Green. Metchie is seeing a ton of the field, although he's still inconsistent for fantasy purposes in a Jets offense that could be forced to start Brady Cook.
He has been held under 35 receiving yards in each of his last two games. The Jets haven't been afraid to target him in the passing game, which should count for something. Metchie could be a possible waiver-wire addition as a boom-or-bust option for Week 15 in a matchup against the first-place Jacksonville Jaguars.
Emari Demercado, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado (ankle) remained limited for a second consecutive practice on Thursday. Demercado is working his way back from a three-game absence, and it looks like there's at least a chance that he could suit up against the Houston Texans on Sunday in Week 15.
The 26-year-old was solid when healthy, amassing 182 scrimmage yards and playing more than 40% of the offensive snaps over his last two healthy games. Friday's practice will provide more clarity on his status for Week 15.
Even if he does play, though, he'll have to compete for touches with Michael Carter and Bam Knight. For now, Demercado isn't a dependable running back or flex option in the fantasy football playoffs.
Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) is missing another day of practice this week on Thursday, according to Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports. Harrison will need to return to practice on Friday to avoid missing a second straight game with a heel injury that he suffered in Week 13. Before that, the 23-year-old missed two games following an appendectomy.
He's very much in danger of missing a fourth game in the last five weeks. It's been that kind of disappointing year for the former first-rounder. Harrison has a 40-594-4 line on 69 targets in his second year in the NFL. If Harrison misses another contest, receiver Michael Wilson will be a must-start as a target hog, while tight end Trey McBride will also continue to have a crazy-high floor in fantasy.
In the three games that Harrison has missed, Wilson has a ridiculous 36 receptions on 49 targets for 445 yards and two touchdowns.
Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, New England Patriots
New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson missed three weeks with a toe injury, allowing rookie TreVeyon Henderson to go off and become a fantasy star. Stevenson played two games before the team's bye week, though, and he still clearly has a significant role in the offense. In Week 13 against the Giants, he outsnapped Henderson 38-to-32, and he took 12 carries for 40 yards, while adding 40 more yards on three catches.
Stevenson still seems to be the preferred short-yardage option, and he also showed he can be involved as a receiver. He'll be in about an even timeshare with Henderson coming back from the bye week in a solid matchup against the Bills.
Both backs remain touchdown-dependent, but they have enough upside to be worth owning in all formats, since the Patriots have a fairly favorable schedule the rest of the season. While he doesn't have the home-run potential of Henderson, Stevenson is a nice waiver wire option if someone bailed on him too early in your league.
Pat Bryant, WR, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Pat Bryant (hamstring) missed a second straight day of practice this week on Thursday and is not expected to be available to play this Sunday when the Green Bay Packers come to town. Bryant has one more day to return to practice on Friday, but as of right now, things aren't looking good for his availability this weekend.
It's bad timing for the 23-year-old third-rounder out of Illinois, as he has had a bigger role in Denver's passing attack over the last three games. Bryant has been more productive than second-year wideout Troy Franklin recently, catching 12 of his 17 targets for 156 yards over the last three games.
If Bryant is inactive on Sunday, which seems likely, Franklin could get back in the good graces of his fantasy managers. Big-play receiver Marvin Mims Jr. and tight end Evan Engram should see more involvement as well.
