Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 13:
Tez Johnson, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Tez Johnson was one of the lone bright spots for his team in their 34-7 Week 12 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, hauling in three catches for 21 yards and a touchdown on four targets. The 23-year-old has now recorded five touchdown catches over his last six games played.
Perhaps most encouragingly, Johnson played 86% of Tampa Bay's offensive snaps against Los Angeles even though Buccaneers wideout Chris Godwin returned to the field for the first time since Week 5. However, Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to exit Week 12 early and puts his status in question for Tampa Bay's Week 13 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
Any missed time for Mayfield would be a blow to the fantasy outlook for Johnson and the rest of the Buccaneers' pass-catchers. Still, Johnson has emerged as a player worth targeting on the waiver wire in PPR leagues with 12 or more teams.
Chimere Dike, WR, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Chimere Dike was a solid option in Week 12 amid injuries to the team's wide receiver room, punching in two touchdowns (one on special teams), while tying for the team lead in targets with seven. Tight end Gunnar Helm was the team's top receiver in terms of yardage on the day.
However, Dike was impactful anyway, posting the first two-TD game of his career. In fact, the former Florida Gator has notched a special teams touchdown in two of his previous three outings, while acting as a reliable outlet for rookie QB Cameron Ward.
With Calvin Ridley (fibula) out at least a few more games, and uncertainty around Elic Ayomanor's (hamstring) timetable for return, Dike has a chance to make a name for himself, particularly against an exploitable Jaguars' pass defense in Week 13. He's shaping up to be a nice high-floor PPR asset, and gets a boost in formats that account for return yards.
DK Metcalf, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver D.K. Metcalf (ankle) is among several players who will be limited during practice early in the week, Brooke Pryor of ESPN reports. Metcalf limped off the field after injuring his ankle during Pittsburgh's Week 12 loss to the Bears, but was ultimately able to return and finish the game.
The 27-year-old seems to have avoided a significant injury, but his status will be managed in practice early this week before ramping up his workload.
Metcalf posted five catches for 22 yards on eight targets with Mason Rudolph filling in for an injured Aaron Rodgers (wrist); however, Rodgers should be back in Week 13 against the Buffalo Bills. Metcalf is expected to suit up on Sunday, with further updates on his status expected in the coming days.
Michael Pittman, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. caught five of his eight targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12.
Pittman scored the first touchdown of the game when he pulled in a six-yard pass from Daniel Jones with 8:06 left in the first quarter. It was mostly a quiet day after that for Pittman as the Colts only managed two field goals in the second half.
Pittman has been a solid fantasy receiver this season as he has 59 catches for 607 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games this year. He will look to keep it going in Week 13 against the Houston Texans.
Greg Dortch, WR, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch has delivered back-to-back productive games with Marvin Harrison Jr. (appendix) sidelined. Over the past two weeks, Dortch has caught 12 passes on 15 targets for 119 yards and a touchdown in each game.
Dortch has played 65% of the snaps during this period, more than doubling the snaps he previously played. Head coach Jonathan Gannon stated that there is no timetable for Harrison's return, which gives Dortch the opportunity to continue producing.
The Cardinals face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13, who have allowed the tenth most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. If Harrison remains out, Dortch should remain a valuable asset for fantasy managers.
