When will Tyrone Tracy Jr. return and play? Will Tyrone Tracy Jr. be back again this season? Read the latest Tyrone Tracy Jr. injury updates and return date for Week 5 (2025).
New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (shoulder) missed his team's Week 4 contest with a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 3.
In his place, it's been RB Cam Skattebo that's held down the fort in the backfield while Tracy recovers from his injury.
He was one of the NFL's surprise RB breakouts of 2024, and even though his production eventually declined again, he could improve and have a solid season. But when will he return to play? Let's dive in.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. Injury Update
Tracy suffered an injury to his shoulder when he caught a swing pass by quarterback Russell Wilson and ran upfield before colliding with two defenders. He didn't get up after the hit and was quickly taken out of the game and ruled out for the rest of the contest.

He was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder. This type of injury isn't one that has a clear timeline because of how varied the damage that's caused can be based on seemingly random factors. Tracy was initially expected to miss between two and four weeks, though.
Doctors believe Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. is expected to be sidelined two to four weeks due to the dislocated shoulder injury he suffered Sunday night vs. Kansas City, per sources. Subsequent reports have been a bit more optimistic. There's word that he could return as soon as Week 6, meaning he would have only missed two contests. We'll just have to wait and see. Of course, since he's not been placed on injured reserve, he's very unlikely to miss more than four games.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. Fantasy Football Outlook
Tracy's situation is an interesting one. The emergence of rookie RB Skattebo is a definite cap on Tracy's ceiling that doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Skattebo has handled the majority of the RB workload in Tracy's absence and has played reasonably well.
In fact, from Week 1 to Week 2, Skattebo's offensive snap count jumped while Tracy's plummeted. The vet played 74 percent of his team's snaps, followed by just 42 percent a week later, while Skattebo saw just 12 percent of snaps in Week 1 and 52 percent in Week 2.
The Giants are short on playmakers with Malik Nabers out, which means it will be even more VITAL for Daboll/Kafka to get creative & scheme for their best playmakers.
TYRONE TRACY JR. is one of them. When healthy, I want to see more pony personnel. Also, Tracy lined up out wide. pic.twitter.com/SIqAkk8ONY— Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL) September 30, 2025
With the injury to wide receiver Nabers (knee), though, it's possible that Tracy could be worked more into the passing game. And rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart (hamstring) got the starting nod over Wilson in Week 4 and immediately rewarded the Giants with their first win of the season.
Tracy should probably be picked up ahead of his return. He has some value and could be a decent flex now that Giants offensive lineman Andrew Thomas is back. Thomas is very important for the run game. Tracy is unlikely to reclaim RB2 status unless Skattebo gets hurt, though.
