Waiver Wire Pickups, Adds and Sleepers for Fantasy Hockey (Week 24)

Hockey season is winding down! Here is my week 24 edition of the fantasy hockey waiver wire. Below are a few skaters at each position that can help steer your fantasy hockey team toward a championship.

Whether your fantasy hockey team is dealing with injuries or lack of production, these NHL players will help you get back on track. These players can be considered waiver wire pickups or sleepers depending on the league format.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Forwards

David Krejci (F, BOS) - 33% Owned

Sidelined for over a month with a knee injury, David Krejci is poised to make his return to the Bruins lineup. The two-time all-star has over 400 points in eight seasons in Boston and should have an immediate impact on fantasy squads as well. He has 26 points in 38 games this season. Look for Krejci to join Patrice Bergeron and  on the Bruins' top scoring line.

Justin Abdelkader (F, DET) - 42% Owned

With four points in his last two starts, Justin Abdelkader now has 21 G, 20 A in 65 games played. He set his career-high for points over a month ago and continues to be one of the Red Wings' most productive forwards. Abdelkader has nine points and 33 shots on goal in his last 10 games. He contributes in more ways than one, logging 64 penalty minutes this season.

Drew Stafford (F, WPG) - 19% Owned

Winnipeg seems to be a good fit for Drew Stafford. The veteran forward has at least a point in seven straight contests and 11 points in his last nine games. Since joining Winnipeg, Stafford has 12 points in 15 starts. His ice-time and plus/minus have both improved since joining the Jets. Stafford is an excellent waiver wire pickup for the remainder of the season.

Mark Stone (F, OTT) - 34% Owned

After playing in a handful of games each of the last two seasons, Mark Stone is having an impressive first full season in Ottawa. He has 51 points in 70 games played and is on quite a roll as of late. He has 6 points in his last 4 games and 11 in his last 10. Stone is a +16 on the season and is a solid option down the stretch.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Defensemen

Alexander Edler (D, VAN) - 33% Owned

It's been a roller-coaster season for Alexander Edler, but he appears to have hit his stride. He has five points in his last five games and is a +4 with 17 shots on goal in that span. Edler is averaging 24:07 minutes of ice-time and has 22 points, 48 PIM, and a +13 rating in 65 games this year. As long as he continues to score, his fantasy value remains high.

Yannick Weber (D, VAN) - 2% Owned

Another Canucks defenseman contributing offensively is Yannick Weber. Weber has four points in his last three games and is starting to see some consistent power-play time. Target Weber in deeper league formats and keep an eye on him for future seasons.

Toby Enstrom (D, WPG) - 13% Owned

The Jets' power-play has been clicking as of late and Toby Enstrom is spearheading that attack. Seven of his 22 points have come on the man-advantage. He also has a +8 rating while averaging 23:48 minutes per game this season. With Dustin Byfuglien missing some time recently, Enstrom has been one of the Jets' defensive leaders. There is some decent fantasy value here.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Goaltenders

Ondrej Pavelec (G, WPG) - 24% Owned

The Jets continue to surge toward the playoffs and Ondrej Pavelec has been brilliant in net over the last few weeks. He has rattled off five straight wins while allowing a total of five goals. His save percentage has been .938 or better in seven straight appearances. Pavelec is a promising option for fantasy owners in need of some solid goaltending the rest of the way.

Eddie Lack (G, VAN) - 30% Owned

The Canucks are another team fighting for playoff positioning and Eddie Lack will continue to see the majority of the starts in net. He has six wins in his last eight games and has allowed two or fewer goals in eight of his last ten contests. Start him with confidence.
