Starting Pitcher Waiver Wire Streamers for Week 26 (Part 2)

The regular season is just about wrapped up and the fantasy season is entering its Championship Week 2 weekend. Hopefully you were able to utilize the streamers strategy en route to a 2015 banner. I know I did:

Screenshot_2015-10-01-09-19-46

It looks all about locked up for the Out 4-6 Weeks squad. I was able to use an efficient draft and timely waiver wire pickups, as well as the great streaming strategy, to go wire-to-wire this year. There’s still four days left, but I feel confident in playing some Kool & the Gang.

Thank you to each and every one of you that visited RotoBaller and checked out my streamer pieces here. We really appreciate you devoted loyalty and we look forward to improving any way we can. So please, give us some feedback. Good luck in the off season.

With that being said, below are some of my starting pitcher streamer sleepers for the second half of Week 26 to consider adding off your league’s waiver wire. Some of these SP options can be considered sleepers for your team depending on the league format and depth, including NL-Only, AL-Only and head-to-head formats.

Thursday 10/1 Starting Pitcher Streamers

Taylor Jungmann (MIL at SD) – Ownership: 37% Yahoo!, 23% Fleaflicker

Although he has looked rather pedestrian in the last quarter of the season, Jungmann’s 116.1 inning sample size is good enough for me to look in his direction in 2016. As long as he can lower his 8.9% BB rate, Jungmann looked to dominate a terrible Padres offense. If you’re sick of seeing his name on this list, then take consolation knowing this is the last time he will. At least this season.

Matchup Rating: Must Stream

Rich Hill (BOS at NYY) – Ownership: 35% Yahoo!, 4% Fleaflicker

I find it ironic that a ton of fantasy owners jumped on the Rich Hill train, but are hesitant to pick up Jungmann. Their ownership numbers, at least on Yahoo!, are rather similar. Hill has looked good in his short season thus far. He has struck out 30 in 23 innings of work. Still, he faces the dreaded “@ NYY” on his schedule.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream

Patrick Corbin (ARI v. COL) – Ownership: 37% Yahoo!, 20% Fleaflicker

More so than Jungmann, Corbin figures to play a prominent role in my preseason rankings for 2016. Dude has some irresistible strikeout potential (22.1% K rate) and has done a tremendous job of not walking batters. When he does give up batted balls, however, they do typically travel for hits. Opponents own a .312 BABIP and a 12.5% HR/FB rate on the season. His home park probably doesn’t help those numbers. For Thursday, I like him to potentially reach double-digit strikeouts.

Matchup Rating: Solid Stream

Friday 10/2 Starting Pitcher Streamers

Ariel Pena (MIL v. CHC) – Ownership: 2% Yahoo!, 2% Fleaflicker

Pena will probably get shelled. But with the Cubs having truly nothing to play for, except perhaps to get the starters some regular playing time, maybe Pena takes advantage of a Chicago team that is napping.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream

Rubby de la Rosa (ARI v. HOU) – Ownership: 15% Yahoo!, 17% Fleaflicker

De la Rosa is a complete boom-or-bust, strikeout-or-homerun option. If you are chasing for that championship banner in your league, the de la Rosa stream is the type of move that makes or breaks your season. Do you have the cajones?

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream

Saturday 10/3 Starting Pitcher Streamers

Tommy Milone (MIN v. KC) – Ownership: 7% Yahoo!, 9% Fleaflicker

The Twins will be fighting for their playoff lives on Friday. Milone knows he will need to bring his A game against a team that owns some of the best contact rates in the history of the game. Milone’s 6.31 K/9 inning rate just simply isn’t good enough.

Matchup Rating: Desperate Stream

Roenis Elias (SEA v. OAK) – Ownership: 4% Yahoo!, 5% Fleaflicker

Southpaws typically do well against the Oakland bats, especially over the last 30 days. Since the calendar hit September, Oakland has been atrocious as they’ve accumulated the worst record in baseball. Look for that continue as they limp into the offseason.

Matchup Rating: Solid Stream

Sunday 10/4 Starting Pitcher Streamers

Snday

Nick Tropeano (LAA at TEX) – Ownership: 1% Yahoo!, 1% Fleaflicker

The young gun arrived just in the nick of time to help the Angels make their playoff push. He looked stellar on national television earlier this week against the A’s. In 37.2 IP, he owns a 17.4% K-BB rate (that’s insane) with a 2.61 FIP. When he is hit, he has been hit hard however. This game should be a great one.

Matchup Rating: Solid Stream

Daniel Norris (DET at CHW) – Ownership: 7% Yahoo!, 5% Fleaflicker

I just wanted to end my season by saying this: He lives in a van, down by the river.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream
