Is Junior Caminero a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash? Brian discusses the fantasy baseball outlook for re-draft leagues for the rest of the 2023 season.
Currently on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Durham, Junior Caminero has had his major league timeline delayed due to separate trips to the IL this season.
The 20-year-old seems primed to make an impact with the Rays at some point this year, but every time he appears close to earning a promotion, an injury seems to pop up and stall his progress. His latest injury timetable puts him out until approximately the end of June.

The Rays top prospect, and one of the top prospects in baseball, is hitting .261 with eight homers and 24 RBI in 34 games this season. Across two levels of the minors in 2023, Caminero slugged 31 homers and racked up 94 RBI with a .975 OPS.
How High Is Junior Caminero's Fantasy Potential?
Caminero possesses 70-grade power and a 60-grade hit tool, making him one of the most enticing prospects in the fantasy landscape. Those tools should translate immediately when he gets his call to the big leagues. He certainly has the potential to be an impact third baseman for years to come.
Long gone in dynasty leagues, Caminero should be scooped up ahead of his return from injury in redraft leagues. If he returns early to mid-July, which might be the best-case scenario, he still has time to make his presence felt this year.

When Might Junior Caminero Get A Major-League Opportunity?
The Tampa Bay Rays have Isaac Paredes manning third base, so Caminero's quickest path to the big leagues might involve proving he can man other infield positions to add to the defensive versatility of the Rays. However, if he returns from injury and shows he is back to full health, his bat might force the issue and the Rays will be creative in ways to get him in the lineup.
He needs everyday at-bats, so when the Rays determine they can provide him with that he will immediately be a high-priority waiver-wire add. He may need more time at Triple-A when he does return, so those stashing Caminero will need to be patient. But that patience could be rewarded in a big way down the stretch of the fantasy season.
