Should I Drop Jordan Mason? Fantasy Football Outlook For Week 12

Jordan Mason - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Draft Sleepers, Draft Rankings

Should I drop Jordan Mason for fantasy football Week 12? Is Jordan Mason a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.

In Week 11, the San Francisco 49ers were defeated by the Seattle Seahawks, 20-17. Running back Jordan Mason had just two carries for 13 yards with no targets. With Christian McCaffrey back in action, Mason's opportunities have vanished.

For many fantasy managers, the question is whether it is time to move on from Mason.

Should you keep Mason stashed for depth, or is it better to use his roster spot on someone who can contribute immediately? Let's dive into whether you should hold or drop him, and who you might consider picking up instead.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Should I Drop Jordan Mason in Fantasy Football?

The Georgia Tech product has little to no fantasy value with Christian McCaffrey back and healthy. McCaffrey is the centerpiece of the 49ers' offense and has returned to his usual workhorse role. This leaves Mason as a pure backup, seeing only occasional snaps in relief.

In Weeks 10 and 11, the 25-year-old combined for just three carries, totaling 17 rushing yards. With no targets in the passing game and limited touches, he is no longer fantasy-relevant. While handcuffing a top running back like McCaffrey is often wise, Mason's current usage makes him expendable in most league formats.

Dropping the third-year player is a logical move if you need the bench space or are searching for players who can produce now. He does not project to have standalone value unless McCaffrey suffers another injury.

Who Should I Pickup in Week 12 Fantasy Football?

If you are dropping Mason, the waiver wire might not have many running backs with significant upside, but there are still options. Roschon Johnson of the Chicago Bears is coming off a solid Week 11 performance where he scored a touchdown. While he remains a handcuff, his usage in the red zone makes him worth a speculative add.

Another option is Cam Akers of the Minnesota Vikings. Akers has seen steady work, with 14 touches in Week 10 and 12 in Week 11. He also found the end zone last week, giving him some flex appeal, even if his yardage totals are underwhelming.

Jaylen Warren of the Pittsburgh Steelers is an intriguing pickup if he is still available. Warren had 13 touches in Week 11 and has carved out a consistent role in the offense. He offers a higher floor than Mason and could help you down the stretch.
