Roschon Johnson's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 14 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Roschon Johnson for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Sit in Most Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3/RB4
ANALYSIS: Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson was a popular sleeper candidate during the preseason. Many believed he could take over the backfield, replacing Khalil Herbert and D'Onta Foreman as the lead running back. However, the rookie hasn’t accomplished that expectation. Instead, he is the RB54 for the year, averaging only 5.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Johnson has struggled to earn enough touches to become consistently fantasy-relevant this season. The running back has had fewer than seven rushing attempts in all but one game until the Week 12 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. He had 10 rushing attempts for 35 yards and 10 fantasy points in the narrow victory. Following his impressive performance over the Vikings, Johnson was a popular waiver wire target this past week.
While I believe Johnson could become a fantasy star one day, that seems unlikely this year. The Bears will continue to use Herbert, Foreman, and Johnson in a committee situation. More importantly, the backfield has an unfriendly matchup on Sunday.
The Detroit Lions have held running backs to only 15.6 fantasy points per game, the sixth-fewest in the NFL. While they recently placed elite run-stopping defensive tackle Alim McNeill on injured reserve, I would still avoid starting Johnson in Week 14.
