ANALYSIS: Robert Gasser dazzled in his big league debut. He earned the victory and threw in a quality start, tossing six shutout innings with four strikeouts, two hits allowed, and zero free passes. He was as efficient as he was impressive only needing 79 pitches to make it through those six innings while relying on his sweeper 46% of the time and averaging 92.7 mph on his fastball. This outing bodes well for him staying in the rotation for at least one more go-around with DL Hall remaining on the IL.

The young left-hander is projected for a juicy matchup on Wednesday, May 15th, against the Pittsburgh Pirates who have struggled mightily against southpaws this season. The Pirates have had a rough go against left-handed pitchers this season with an underwhelming team batting average of .220. Assuming Gasser stays in the rotation for his next turn after Pittsburgh that would bring him to a matchup with the Miami Marlins.
