Zach Wilson To Compete For QB Job Next Season
2 years agoNew York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that quarterback Zach Wilson will have a chance to compete for the starting QB job in 2023, but Saleh won't commit to Wilson being the starter right after the Week 18 regular season finale loss to the Miami Dolphins. The former No. 2 overall pick got a late start to the 2022 campaign due to a knee injury and then completely flopped, getting benched twice. He finished with a 54.5% completion percentage, 1,688 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions in nine starts and looked worse in his second NFL season. Many folks believe he needs a change of scenery already, but the Jets aren't giving up on him just yet. Mike White and Joe Flacco are free agents this offseason, but the Jets are fully expected to bring in another QB -- via free agency or a trade -- so Wilson will likely be fighting an uphill battle to win his job back.
