Yasmani Grandal To Play Saturday
4 years agoChicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal (knee) is scheduled to play in the Cactus League game on Saturday against the Angels. Grandal twisted his right knee during running drills on Feb. 24, but he got four at-bats in a B game against the Rangers on Friday. He finished 1-for-4 and will start as the designated hitter on Saturday as he returns to action. Manager Tony La Russa isn't sure when Grandal will get back behind the plate on defense, but it could be sooner rather than later. Unless the switch-hitting veteran suffers a setback, he should be ready for Opening Day in a few weeks. The 32-year-old isn't an elite catching option for fantasy managers, but he's the starter in a much-improved lineup and offers some notable pop at a very thin position.
