Yankees Finalizing Deal With Corey Kluber
4 years agoThe New York Yankees are finalizing a one-year, $11 million deal with right-hander Corey Kluber on Friday, according to sources familiar with the agreement. Pending a physical, the two-time American League Cy Young winner will head to the Bronx. Kluber suffered a torn right shoulder muscle in his first start with the Rangers in 2020 after making just 18 pitches. He was coming off a broken right forearm when he was hit by a line drive in May of 2019. The 34-year-old spent the first nine years of his career with Cleveland and went 98-58 with a 3.16 ERA while throwing at least 200 innings in five straight seasons. The three-time All-Star made five Opening Day starts from 2015 to 2019 and impressed scouts during a throwing session earlier this week. Barring setbacks with his shoulder, Kluber will be an excellent buy-low fantasy starter despite moving to the tough AL East.
