Vikings Restructure Kirk Cousins' Contract
2 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings restructured quarterback Kirk Cousins' contract on Tuesday to create some additional salary cap space for the 2023 season, according to a source. Minnesota converted a portion of Cousins' $10 million base salary for this season into a signing bonus that can be spread out over the next couple of seasons. With the Vikings trying to get under the cap this year, they also parted ways with veterans Eric Kendricks and Adam Thielen. Cousins has the best receiver in the NFL in Justin Jefferson at his disposal and a pretty good tight end in T.J. Hockenson as well in an offense that isn't afraid to air it out. The 34-year-old threw for 4,547 yards, 29 TDs and 14 interceptions in 17 regular season starts last year and should remain in play as a low-end QB1 in 2023.
