Tyler O'Neill Scratched From Lineup Again
1 year agoUpdating a previous report, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill (knee) has been scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays for the second straight day due to left-knee tightness. Alec Burleson will now man left field and bat seventh in the order against Rays left-hander Jalen Beeks. O'Neill's disappointing 2023 campaign continues, and don't be surprised if his knee injury lands him back on the injured list at some point. The 28-year-old outfielder has been better since returning from an IL stint at the end of July, but overall he's been a massive disappointment for the struggling Cardinals. O'Neill has played in only 44 games (161 plate appearances) and is hitting .248 (36-for-145) with five homers, 13 RBI and 19 runs scored.
