Tyler Fitzgerald, Casey Schmitt Starting Rehab Assignments On Tuesday
Tyler Fitzgerald (rib) and Casey Schmitt (oblique) are both starting their minor-league rehab assignments with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, according to MLB.com's Justice delos Santos. Fitzgerald is at second base and is batting leadoff, while Schmitt is at first base and hitting second for the River Cats. Fitzgerald is recovering from a fractured left rib, but barring setbacks, both infielders could rejoin the major-league roster in San Francisco by later this week or the weekend. The 27-year-old Fitzgerald is more fantasy relevant, as he'll likely return to regular playing time at the keystone with the Giants when he returns from the injured list. He hit .280 in 96 games a year ago with 15 home runs and 17 stolen bases, making him attractive as a middle-infield option for fantasy managers in deep-mixed leagues.
