Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Tyler Black (hand) had surgery in late March during spring training for a right-hamate fracture in his hand and started a minor-league rehab assignment at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on May 15, according to MLB.com. Black is expected to move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Nashville next week. The 24-year-old was initially estimated to miss six to eight weeks, so it's possible he'll be able to return to action in June, barring a setback. The team's No. 6-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, played in his first 18 major-league games last year and struggled with a .204 average (10-for-49) with no homers, two RBI, 17 strikeouts and seven walks in 57 plate appearances. Many players experience a drop in power upon their return from hamate surgery, so Black will most likely return to the minors when his rehab assignment is up next month.--Keith Hernandez
