Tre'Quan Smith Lands On Injured Reserve
4 years agoThe New Orleans Saints placed wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) on Injured Reserve with an ankle injury on Thursday after he suffered the injury in the Week 15 loss to the Chiefs. Smith will miss at least three games, meaning he won't be available for the first game of the postseason. With Michael Thomas (ankle) and Deonte Harris (neck) also on IR, the team is extremely thin at the receiver position behind veteran Emmanuel Sanders. In a corresponding move, rookie Marquez Callaway came off IR on Thursday and should provide some needed depth in the passing game for the final two games of the regular season. Austin Carr, Lil'Jordan Humphrey and rookie Juwan Johnson are the remaining receivers on the active roster. Callaway could be a deep sleeper in his return, but he's much too risky to start in single-year formats against Minnesota on Friday.
