Trent Williams Makes History With New Deal
4 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers and left tackle Trent Williams agreed to a six-year, $138 million deal on Wednesday, making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history. The deal includes $55.1 million guaranteed and will receive a $30.1 million signing bonus. Williams discussed deals with the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears but ultimately returned to the 49ers. The 32-year-old had a 91.9 Pro Football Focus grade in 14 games for San Francisco last season, and the 10-year veteran remains one of the best left tackles in the game despite his age. He was easily the best offensive lineman on the open market this year. San Francisco's running game is in good hands with Williams still in the fold, and it's also great news for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
