Tom Brady, Buccaneers Agree To One-Year Extension
4 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to terms on an undisclosed one-year contract extension for quarterback Tom Brady on Friday, according to sources. The deal gives the Super Bowl champions some salary cap space and locks Brady in for the 2022 season. Brady will turn 44 years old in August, but he really hasn't shown any signs of slowing down and has talked about playing past 45. Brady was set to count $28.375 million against the salary cap in 2021, but this extension will likely significantly reduce that hit. The extension tacks on an additional year to his original two-year, $50 million contract. The Bucs added void years to the back end of the deal to further reduce his salary cap hit this year. Tom Terrific threw for 4,633 yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 16 regular season games. Until he shows signs of being human, he'll remain a QB1.
