Titans Fire Offensive Coordinator Todd Downing
2 years agoThe Tennessee Titans fired offensive coordinator Todd Downing on Monday. In addition to Downing, the Titans let go of offensive line coach Keith Carter, secondary coach Anthony Midget and offensive skills assistant Erik Frazier. Tennessee finished the year 7-10 and lost their last seven games to miss out on a postseason spot. Despite Downing leaving, quarterback Ryan Tannehill said on Monday that he wants to return in 2023 after ending the year on Injured Reserve due to an ankle injury. The Titans would save around $18 million in salary cap space if they cut Tannehill this offseason after he finished with 2,536 passing yards, 15 total touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games. Under Downing in 2022, the offense ranked 30th in the NFL in yards per game (296.8) and 28th in points per game (17.5).
