Texans Request Interview With Mike Kafka
2 years agoThe Houston Texans have requested to interview New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for their vacant head-coaching position, according to a source. The Carolina Panthers are also looking at Kafka as a head-coaching candidate, so he is picking up steam in his first time in the head-coaching cycle this offseason. Houston is looking for a new head coach after firing Lovie Smith following just one season with the team. The interest in Kafka comes after his first year in the Big Apple while helping quarterback Daniel Jones to by far his best season. Before coming to the Giants, Kafka worked under Andy Reid in Kansas City as the quarterbacks coach. The Texans offense needs a lot of help, as they averaged the second-fewest total yards per game (283.5), the second-fewest rushing yards (86.8) and the second-fewest points per game (17.0).
