Stuart Fairchild Suffers Finger Injury on Thursday
Stuart Fairchild (finger), who made the start in right field for Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies, appeared to suffer a broken finger on his right hand when he was thrown out at second base on a stolen-base attempt in the fourth inning. Fairchild went 1-for-1 in the contest with a walk before being replaced in right field by Ronald Acuna Jr., who was resting in Game 1 of the twin bill. The injury didn't look good at all, but it's unclear exactly what is wrong with it. At the very least, the 29-year-old reserve outfielder probably won't be available for Friday's series opener against the Boston Red Sox, and there's a good chance he might need a stint on the injured list. Fairchild came into Thursday's double dip sporting a .156 average (5-for-32) with two RBI and two steals in 20 games played for Atlanta.
