Starling Marte Expected To Be Ready For Opening Day
2 years agoNew York Mets manager Buck Showalter said that there's nothing to suggest that outfielder Starling Marte (core) won't be ready for Opening Day. Marte had core-muscle surgery last November, but fantasy managers may not have to wait for him to make his 2023 regular season debut. Still, the Mets will probably take it easy on the 34-year-old veteran in spring training, and he'll be one to watch when he gets work in games. In his first year with the Mets, Marte hit .292/.347/.468 with an .814 OPS, 16 home runs, 63 RBI, 76 runs scored and 18 stolen bases, but he only played in 118 games due to injury. He should continue to be a fixture near the top of New York's lineup this year, but declining stolen base numbers and injury risk make him a declining fantasy option.
