Slade Caldwell Tallies Two Hits in High-A Debut
Slade Caldwell went 2-for-5 with two singles, a stolen base, and a strikeout during his High-A debut against Eugene on Tuesday evening. Caldwell was selected with the 29th pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Valley View HS. Caldwell made his professional debut this summer with Low-A Visalia. Through 48 games, the 18-year-old performed at an elite level, posting a .294/.460/.454 line. He went deep three times and added 13 doubles with two triples. He swiped 13 bags and showed a strong eye at the plate, holding a 62:44 K:BB. Over his final 13 games before earning the promotion, the No. 97-ranked prospect in baseball posted a .327 AVG with a .880 OPS. Fantasy managers should expect Caldwell to spend the majority of the campaign with High-A.
