Slade Caldwell Records Fourth Straight Multi-Hit Game
Slade Caldwell went 3-for-5 on Tuesday for Single-A Visalia, recording an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. It was the fourth straight multi-hit effort for the 2024 first-round draft pick, going 10-for-17 (.588) with two doubles, a home run, and one steal over that stretch. Importantly, the left-handed hitter struck out just twice in 18 plate appearances (11.1 percent), which was an improved rate compared to the 31.6 percent strikeout rate he was sporting before this hot streak. It's the 18-year-old's first glimpse of professional ball, though, so some growing pains are to be expected. Arizona's second-ranked prospect will be their top-ranked prospect as soon as Jordan Lawlar graduates, and brings 70-grade speed to the diamond, so it will be fun to watch him develop his bat alongside his base-stealing ability on his way to the big leagues.
